In the Ensanche Derecho district of Barcelona just a stone?s throw from Gran Vía is Toc, a modern restaurant designed by prestigious Catalan interior designers. Here, Santi Colominas and Sandra Baliarda, two young but experienced Barcelona chefs, give their culinary imaginations a free rein. The restaurant is spread over two floors. Downstairs is the reception, the kitchen and a more informal dining room, with views onto the street. Upstairs is divided into three different spaces, which can be reserved (perfect for corporate dinners) and Toc?s extensive wine cellar. The food is clearly Catalan-based but with a strong modern bias that becomes clear from the way the food is presented on the plate, all produced from first class ingredients, especially the extra virgin olive oil. The flavours are daring but always seem to work. Service is attentive and helpful. And the soups are sublime. In short, Toc is perfect for a romantic dinner that will amaze and surprise your partner.
