Lovely friendly staff. Good food, not exceptional.
Myself and my three guests were all very disappointed with our meals.
The restaurant is set in a lovely building and the general dining experience was good. We were not rushed and the staff were very polite and attentive when they dealt with us. I had the tenderloin and it was superbly cooked and a delight to taste. I was told by my guests that the angus steaks were very good also, as was the salmon
However when our food arrived it was cold and the portions were totally inadequate. The only thing that stopped me asking for a refund war the fact that I did not want to embarrass my guests.
I will be interested to see if my comments are read and responded to.
I booked Marco Pierre White for my boyfriend’s birthday meal. We were a bit early for our table so we had a drink in the bar. The barman was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed and transferred our drinks to our table when we were seated. We ordered bread and olives, then the centre cut of steak for our mains with brandy sauce. We had sticky toffee pudding and a tart for desert. The food was amazing and the service was excellent. The restaurant itself is a great layout too. The price was higher than similar steakhouses we’ve been to but worth every penny. We had a lovely time and will definitely be back!
Wow, what beautiful surroundings in this historic building. It was a treat to sit and take in the ambience. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, but oh my, what a let down with the service! We had ordered our wine with some water at the outset but after finishing our starters and waiting for our main meal, there was still no sign of any wine.
After having waited about half an hour, my partner called over a waitress who, to our incredulity, explained that they had run out of wine glasses and were washing them as tables were finishing with them. She left us in rather a stunned silence. We have eaten out all over the country and world and never had experienced this bizarre situation before, certainly not in a hotel with the reputation of this one.
Eventually, two mismatched wine glasses and our bottle of red turned up but the whole meal had been spoiled really.
Please take note, restaurant managers.......this is not the way to guarantee a return visit!!
Had tbone steak i was a chef for 15 years and theres just one word to describe it fantastic staff were amazng and attentive food was top notch i honestly havnt got one bad thing to say about this restaurant its a must for any foodie like me
Beautiful building and restaurant. The lunch time menu looked good although pricey. Although at paying the bill found out it was 2 for 1 so the price was about right for the quality of the food.
We had to wait 30 minutes for our drinks order to be taken which was too long, and the waiter was friendly but didn't seem to know the menu well (he may have been new). The food was lovely though
We had a very nice experience at he restaurant, however my partner and I found the main course food very highly seasoned especially with salt which left us thirsty for the rest of the day. The chicken was cooked to perfection only to be served with luke warm potatoes and undercooked green beans. The cheese board was average and we were not told the names of the cheeses we given, on asking the waitress she had to go away and ask for details. the choice of wines was very good. The car parking charges were extra and in the region of £10.
Great food as always
Absolutely delicious meal to celebrate a birthday . Calamari to start with followed by a steak which was perfectly cooked . The service was superb and we would definitely go back .
