Amazing view, great service. The food was very disappointing. I paid a premium for the view....definitely NOT for the food. I will recommend to friends because of the lovely location but manage their expectations about the food.
Excellent food and service
We had booked the fixed price lunch deal and all the food was excellent, especially the whipped goats cheese and pickled carrots starter. Good bread and butter and plenty of it. What can you say about the view? - you are at the top of the 'Gherkin' building therefore the views of London are brilliant.
Amazing food and experience. Would highly recommend it to everyone.
Good value. My only disappointment is that I emailed the restaurant to say it was my husbands 50th and I phoned the venue the day before to remind them and yet they didn’t event acknowledge this when we visited.
I'm sad to say Helix fell way below expectations on this visit. We arrived early thinking we could have a drink before lunch at the bar to be told we couldn't due to a corporate function....as there is no waiting area we had to leave the building and go to a local pub before returning 30 mins later and going through the whole security thing again. On the second attempt we were duly escorted to our table (in a corner table with restricted views) and were presented with a set menu. We ordered our drinks and food choices, and the champagne arrived promptly but was flat....so flat the waiter decided to take it away and replace it before we had a chance to say anything. The menu was very limited and didnt offer much choice although the food was well presented (small portions), but tasted ok.
After our deserts arrived the table service became non existent because the restaurant was now busy. As we were unable to order more drinks or coffee we decided to pay, leave and go somewhere else to finish off our lunch experience. On exiting the restaurant we noticed other tables had ordered from a completely different menu to us and had steaks and other dishes not available to us. On reflection I do not feel we had value for money, nor do I think the experience was as it should have been. Very disappointing....great location, but felt under-whelmed and let down.
We recently became a tenant of the Gherkin building. We booked dinner for a very important client and whilst requesting a window table we were allocated a table in the main entrance which in turn was very busy and noisy which did not help as one of our guests is hard of hearing. We wanted to order initial drinks / an aperitif and after waiting circa 15 minutes to do so our drinks then took another 25-30 minutes to arrive which is unacceptable as it was only for 5 basic drinks! During our long wait our client walked to one end of the restaurant to take in the view and also take a quick photo it was then at this point that the floor manager told him abruptly that he couldn't do so and needed to return to his table. As you can appreciate both of these incidents left a bad taste to what should have been a fantastic, 5 star evening. I duly paid the service charge however on hindsight should have considered not doing so. The food itself was very pleasing.
The restaurant was busy but not crowded. The taster menu was excellent quality and well described. We opted for the wine accompaniment which was also very good. Lovely views across the city
I took my twin sister's for their Birthday treat and we all enjoyed the lunch every much. The service was excellent and the view was extra treat.
Had cocktails in the bar - loved the building and view, followed by lunch in restaurant. Good food, helpful staff.
