Had Sunday lunch at this busy pub with great historical atmosphere. There's a shortish menu but the pork loin, nut roast, fish and chips we had were tasty and well presented, along with the beer, and service was great. Nice to be able to take our dog.
Excellent food (Sunday roast followed by an amazing sticky toffee pudding), friendly staff, great setting.
Lovely food, freshly prepared. Friendly staff. Dog friendly restaurant
History, charm, fantastic food and drink. Service was lovely, family friendly, dog friendly and the sticky toffee pudding is not to be missed!
So disappointing. We had been wanting to try this pub for ages but we were left feeling so disappointed. The service itself was poor. We had our one year old son with us and we're told there are no high chairs, so he had to eat on our lap which wasn't enjoyable for any of us. We saw our waitress once and that was it. The food was just ok. We had the chicken roast and the beef roast. Both were very dry. The chicken roast was a whole chicken but we only ate half so asked to take the leftovers with us but we're told this was not allowed due to health and safety. Such a waste! Will not return or reccomend to others.
Great food and good atmosphere
Sunday roast was great . But there is no take away of your unfinished meal ? The portions are so big .. i.e. Had the gammon for two and wanted to take half of it home because it was so large of a dish and was told that we could not . One dish and 2 of us could not finish . What a waste . They should manage their portions better and allow people to take the remainder home. I'm not a fan of wasting food and find this disturbing.
Enjoyed the meals. Loved the age of the pub and the gardens.
Lovely atmosphere and great food.
Very good staff
