Lovely country pub with an open log fire to give it that added warmth. It is situated alongside a river with outside seating to enjoy the view in warmer weather. The food is excellent without being expensive and there is enough choice to suit all palates. A large range of Ales, Lagers, Ciders and Wines plus a range of non alcoholic to suit all tastes compliments the food perfectly.
Love the upper part of the dining area really cosy.very friendly young lady serving us.thought the choice on the xmas menu was very good, especially looked the mulled plum and bakewell tart!
Love the lion dine Saturday very busy had to wait a while for our meal to come out usually not so slow seemed short staffed .meal very good nicely served enjoyed it as usual
The lion is a lovely old pub could do with a scrub a little grotty in places (toilets, dirty menu, used napkins under seats, tired looking decorative state), service was great, drinks reasonably priced food wasn't great quality was a bit poor chef needs to up his game bring up the standards, they really need a bigger veg option menu quite limited
Always love dining at The Lion but on this visit the wait for food was too long, had to send a main course back as the meat was cold. Although not servers fault but prosecco bubbled out of bottle and dropped over me and floor, he then proceeded to let it drip into my glass off of if the side of the bottle, not impressed but had waited too long for our drinks as well so did not make a fuss! It seemed that there was not enough staff and this experience would not stop me returning.
all of it was excellent. the food. the service by our waitress sara was excellent.
Good service, friendly waitress. Excellent
Disappointed! We ordered two courses and a fairly expensive bottle of wine £25. The wine came after chasing twice ie it arrived after we finished the starter. Both glasses where wet and hadn't been dried ready for use. The main course came out before we finished the starter and was taken away. When it was served it was cold so we sent it back. It returned and appeared to have been microwaved because whilst it was hot the puff-pastry was flat and limp and had lost its texture. So we sent it back and the waitress said she would order two complete new meals. The new meals were fine. the waitress who served us was first class she couldn't have done more but she was clearly struggling to serve all the tables. The younger waitress simply brought food straight from the kitchen.
Table was booked for 5pm but they where unable to seat us until 545pm. They had run out of yorkshire puddings and all beef. Service was all over the place. Even after asking 3 times we still had no table water. Food was delicious just small meat portions
