Restaurant description

The Restaurant & Tea Room at the Feathers Hotel in Ludlow is housed in one of the most iconic, 17th Century buildings in the UK that is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. Following an extensive a refurbishment, the tea room has already become a haven for local tea room lovers and visitors to the historical market town. The contemporary, but quintessentially British tea room is open daily serving breakfast, lunch and, of course, afternoon tea, and is perfectly situated right on the high street with all local attractions just a short walk away.

The Tea Room at the Feathers Hotel menu perfectly matches the splendour of the venue with all bread, meats and other ingredients sourced from superb local suppliers. Alongside the tea room’s own blend of coffee there is a choice of 11 fine loose leaf teas, including The Feathers very own blend of breakfast tea. Guests can also indulge in carefully-cut finger sandwiches, bagels, salads, delicate cakes, home-made pastries and fresh, warm scones with delicious preserves all baked freshly every day and served on stunning stands that make for the perfect centre pieces to the table.

The new tea room still retains the charm and character of the listed building, combined with a touch of modern lighting, interiors and style. Most notably is the eclectic mix of lighting, banquette seating, traditional fireplace and feature wall mural which pays homage to its hometown of Ludlow. Guests can unwind in the ambience inside with gentle music playing, or enjoy the stunning terrace to the rear of the hotel on sunnier days.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Very expensive. Food was quick to come out of the kitchen. My salmon was not very warm and the meal was a bit bland. Had better food in other places at the same price. Service though was very good, couldn't fault it. Drinks were expensive.

This was very disappointing. We booked this well known hotel for a meal for our anniversary. The whole place was cold, the service muddled and poor, the background music too 'bassy' and loud - totally unsuitable for 'fine dining'. Our starter was good, but it's difficult to spoil tomatoes and mozzarella to be honest! The main was not hot, and we queried the cut of steak presented to us. We ordered ribeye, but what we were given clearly was either rump or sirloin, definitely not ribeye. When we questioned our waiter he went to check and came back with 'it's sirloin, like ribeye' - fathom that one if you can! I was cold throughout the meal, and the social distancing was less then ideal. When we were told our table was ready, we were led to the dining room, only to asked to wait as it obviously was not ready. During this wait, at least 3 waiters had to pass by us too closely, which left me feeling uncomfortable. Inadequate, disappointing, and not the anniversary experience we were looking forward to.

best Yorkshire pudding I have ever had. Beef was perfectly cooked. Service excellent, both young men Nathan and colleague very professional, very smart ,nothing was too much trouble. I ,would prefer staff to wear visors instead of masks though, obviously as long as staff are safe of course. I hope to be back for a dinner soon.

I booked afternoon tea for my mum and I as a treat on a weekend away. Unfortunately from the moment we walked in it was a disappointing experience. I was informed by the waitress that my booking price of £21.95 was for 1 person not the 2 it clearly stated on my booking confirmation! I spoke politely to the manageress about the misleading sales! She was unhelpful. I was informed there was currently an offer running with TravelZoo 2 for 1 but unfortunately it is only available on certain days and between certain times! I decided we would have the tea as I had booked and was looking forward to it! Big mistake! The pot of tea came about 20 minutes before the food! By the time the food came the tea was warm and stewed! The sandwiches were stale. We were given replacements! Not much better! The trifle was not very appetising either! Overall a very disappointing experience. Would not recommend. Over priced! Poor service! On the way out I witnessed more disappointed customers! A lady had a dead fly in her cup of tea! Avoid is my advice!

We complained about the chips being under cooked, and the menu offered on the website is not what is offered in the restaurant. Very disappointed with waiting staff response, they didn’t seem bothered.
