Restaurant description
The Restaurant & Tea Room at the Feathers Hotel in Ludlow is housed in one of the most iconic, 17th Century buildings in the UK that is celebrating its 400th anniversary this year. Following an extensive a refurbishment, the tea room has already become a haven for local tea room lovers and visitors to the historical market town. The contemporary, but quintessentially British tea room is open daily serving breakfast, lunch and, of course, afternoon tea, and is perfectly situated right on the high street with all local attractions just a short walk away.
The Tea Room at the Feathers Hotel menu perfectly matches the splendour of the venue with all bread, meats and other ingredients sourced from superb local suppliers. Alongside the tea room’s own blend of coffee there is a choice of 11 fine loose leaf teas, including The Feathers very own blend of breakfast tea. Guests can also indulge in carefully-cut finger sandwiches, bagels, salads, delicate cakes, home-made pastries and fresh, warm scones with delicious preserves all baked freshly every day and served on stunning stands that make for the perfect centre pieces to the table.
The new tea room still retains the charm and character of the listed building, combined with a touch of modern lighting, interiors and style. Most notably is the eclectic mix of lighting, banquette seating, traditional fireplace and feature wall mural which pays homage to its hometown of Ludlow. Guests can unwind in the ambience inside with gentle music playing, or enjoy the stunning terrace to the rear of the hotel on sunnier days.

I wanted to see the refurbishment of the hotel (which I thought was very nice) as had not been here for many years. I thought the staff seemed a little inexperienced, the waiting times were quite long and I was underwhelmed by my food - only a salad but not a very exciting one!

The pork belly was rather tough and the fat should have been crisp. A disappointment. The cheesecake was a joke. Where was the cheese cake? Stupid to have it in a cocktail glass. Keep it traditional! The beef bourguignon was brilliant. The sticky toffee pudding was brilliant - the best I've ever tasted.

We were staying at The Feathers and noticed how good the food looked when being served to diners so decided to book dinner last minute, on our second night, in The Plumes Restaurant. Fantastic! Food was superb, drinks lovely and great variety and service outstanding. Also, excellent value for money. 10 out of 10.

Very good social distancing measures. Excellent food. Friendly staff, but they took no notice of us, after 15 minutes I-went to see the Manager who was very helpful and sent staff to take our order. The staff need to be trained to clear the tables more quickly, we had to summon them to clear the table after each course.
