Awarded a trio of AA Rosettes for his ground-breaking British cuisine, Mark Greenaway’s eponymously-named restaurant is one of Edinburgh’s most sought after dining spots. Once a bank vault, the custom-built cellar houses a stunning wine collection, where the sommelier invites diners to try before ordering.

Crafted in Mark Greenaway’s innovative signature style, the menu compiles regularly-changing market fresh dishes and multiple-course tasting journeys. Exquisite creations might include Loch Fyne crab cannelloni with smoked cauliflower custard, fillet of Aberdeen Angus beef with foraged mushrooms, or gingerbread and rhubarb fondant with almond ice cream. Wines can also be matched by the on-hand sommelier.

Set in a restored Georgian building, the interior is the work of acclaimed designer Adam Storey, with warm, dark teal and mahogany offset by bespoke metal pieces and brass chandeliers.

Chef Greenaway also represented Scotland in the 2012 & 2013 series of TV’s Great British Menu. Mark Greenaway restaurant in Edinburgh is a 10-minute walk from Waverley Train Station.

    I was a little underwhelmed with the whole experience. First impressions of the property was that the decor was a bit shabby, the walk to the toilets a little grubby. We had the 4 course menu it was all a little forgettable. It was certainly style over substance. Too many foamy, mushy textures for my liking and the flavours just weren’t there for me.

    Our 5th visit in this restaruant and always delicious. Even if there is not anymore an 'A LA CARTE' menu, the 4 courses menu was perfect and we still are surprised by the Chef. Congratulation. We'll come back when we are in Edimbourg

    Excellent lunch and very good value. Stairs down to toilets are very shabby however. Front door needs an overdoor heater fitted

    The food was lovely, a little to much pasta on the 8 course tasting menu which distracted from the hake on one of the main courses otherwise a lovely afternoon. The wine pairing is a must.

    Thoroughly enjoyed our first visit to restaurant Mark Greenaway. It was a wonderful dining experience from the fun starter right through to the delicious cheeses at the end. My pork belly main was melt in the mouth and the deconstructed apple strudel was delicious making you savour each ingredient.
