Offering 5, 7 or 10 course tasting menus, dishes include braised pigs head with celeriac and star annis, and duck with lavender, beetroot and soy sauce.     Very good restaurant, though with a few minor flaws. Firstly, the tables are too close together. We were sandwiched between other diners and it almost felt like communal dining. This makes conversation a little difficult as well as access to the tables by the waiters awkward. Also, our table was very deep, which made my partner feel miles away. Service was generally fine, although having to ask for more water for the table or not being offered a glass of wine with the main suggests a lack of attention.

    I ordered the poached lobster as a starter. Unfortunately, it was doused so liberally in lobster bisque that all subtilty was lost. It was served with well cooked broccoli which I didn't care for at all, turning it into a rather soggy albeit tasty soup. This in hindsight was too rich in conjunction with my main.
    My pheasant as a main was delicious and superbly cooked, though the extra dark meat on brioche was a little unnecessary as the meal was already incredibly rich and I didn't need a little open burger on the side.

    My dessert was a deconstructed tarte tartin which was delicious, however, not an improvement over the traditional dessert. It was paired with a beautiful Madeira.

    My partners dishes were delicious. She had the Pea "GBM" and the wild Sea Bass, which came with the most delectable langoustine.

    If I was back in Cardiff I'd happily return to try some of the other dishes. It was nice to see James serving some of the dishes, though perhaps that was only if you ordered the degustation.

    There were plenty of little extras thrown in which were also delicious.

    We went for the 6 course taster menu with matched wines and added the cheese as an extra course. We loved every course from start to finish. Every member of staff was friendly and helpful, the sommelier was particularly informative and we loved getting to meet the chefs as they brought the individual courses to the table. Ludo particulary enjoyed his visit to the kitchen at the end of the meal!

    Food was excellent, we went for the a la carte. We were disappointed our wine order was not taken when we ordered our food. Once seated we had to ask twice before getting the wine menu. Wine finally came during our mains.

    Made to feel 'special' on first entering the restaurant with all the staff being incredibly courteous and polite. First time experience opting for the full package of 9 dishes plus the wine selection. Admittedly some of the dishes wouldn't normally be for me although went 'all-in' and wasn't disappointed. Had the cod dish which was outstanding and a highlight of the evening. It is difficult to single out and one dish although not normally one for desserts had 4 in the end - what can I say! - normally an area of expertise for my wife who equally found the overall experience to be magnificent.
    The restaurant itself is in a lovely location on the front and the interior was immaculate as were the staff in their uniforms.
    I particularly like the fact the chefs came-out with their respective dishes and gave a commentary on what they had prepared - albeit nice to see people taking pride in their work through the window into the kitchen which does go to show just what is needed to create a 'food experience' of this magnitude..
    We have booked again for April with friends who like my wife and I will enjoy an outstanding and delightful experience.
    This was the first albeit as you will see it won't be the last time!

    Me and my wife visited you for valentines. What an amazing experience we had! We chose the 9 course menu and it did not disappoint. Our favourite dishes were the aged beef, wood pigeon and all 3 deserts! We was totally wowed by what we ate and did not have anything to complain about. Every dish was immaculately presented and even served by the chefs themselves.. including James! Talk about professionalism. The restaurant itself was extremely clean and each table was dressed with class. Each member of staff on the floor were extemely polite and there was not one thing they would not do for you.
    Our wxperience as a whole was phenomenal and we will be sure to visit again soon. Highly recommended to everyone!

    Amazing food and service but restaurant was very cold despite me wearing a wooden dress tights and boots My daughter refused to take her coat off . We had a taster menu that was delightful except over salted salsify purée and the 2 puddings were similar under poached pear and apple tarte tatin with caramel stick to plate so hard
