The Michelin-starred Restaurant Interlude in Horsham serves British cuisine led by Jean Delport and acclaimed South African chefs. In a grand manor house overlooking 200 acres of the luscious Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens, the restaurant demonstrates unique plating with a tasting menu inspired by its own kitchen garden, local farmers and surroundings.
On the Restaurant Interlude menu, find ingredients from the gardens served in bulbous tumblers, mossy gardens or on stones, like the palate-cleansing meadowsweet and ginger beer pebble. Dishes pay homage to its chefs' South African connections with a mushroom and deer biltong taster.
Enjoy Restaurant Interlude’s ribbons of pumpkin pasta with pine mousse, while for dessert, try the sheep's milk sorbet with a delicate chocolate leaf. The interior’s luxurious patterned wallpaper and chandeliers over white-clothed tables, showcase the West Sussex restaurant’s fine dining style in the intimate drawing room.
The whimsical and unusual dining venture on an estate in Sussex serves tasting menus influenced by nature around them. Found in Leonardslee Lakes and Gardens, Restaurant Interlude near Brighton is under 30 minutes from Horsham Station.

Staff attentive, afternoon tea was lovely, but felt it wasn’t good value for money. 3 finger sandwiches per person was very poor. Have had many experiences of Afternoon tea, mostly at 4 and 5* establishments, our sandwiches and pastries are always replenished if required. Feel that Interlude would fare greatly if they offered this service.

Outstanding in every aspect of the experience. The taster menu was exceptional with its commitment to foraging and local sourcing, presented with exceptional imagination and tastes that will remain memorable for years. Our party of four included a fine-dining restaurant owner and he commented that it was among the best food he has ever tasted. Dining at Interlude is an adventure, and the location is remarkable too. Finally, the service was wonderful, professional and friendly.

Nice surroundings, building and Christmas tree and the themed meal was superb. The attentive service from the staff added to the evening.

Overall we really enjoyed the afternoon tea. The service was friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and efficient. The food was really excellent with many joyful twists to old favourites for this time of year (Christmas). My small negatives would be that given the small number of people who had booked in I didn't understand why we had another couple placed right next to us rather than maximising the space between people in the dining room. In the same vein, the background music, whilst very pleasant was too quiet, meaning you could overhear every conversation from the next door tables. This did not spoil an excellent occasion, but perhaps limited our enjoyment a little.

We had Afternoon Tea which was very lovely as for this time of year there was a Christmas theme with the small cakes decorated to show this. There was plenty of food, in fact we both bought home a piece of cake of our choice.

Absolutely wonderful experience! As South Africans, we loved the play on the foods we know and love and loved the Benguela wines.

Amazing afternoon tea! Served in 3 parts, with the ability to take home anything you can’t eat, the afternoon tea was fabulous! Lovely finger sandwiches, tasty little savoury bites, fabulous scones. The ‘desserts’ were delicate and so tasty, and the slab of chocolate cake that was part 3 was lovely the following day. The surroundings were beautiful, service was impeccable, hope to return to try the dinner tasting menu.
