Restaurant description

Just a pebble's throw from the seafront, The Port Gaverne boasts 2 AA Rosettes and serves up inventive seasonal dishes using produce from the bountiful local area. Settle down in the quaint restaurant with local views, or relax in the snug bar with its rustic wooden features and charming coastal feel.

The Port Gaverne menu is full of traditional Cornish flavours, with signature touches from the talented kitchen. Start off with 72-hour sourdough with seaweed and yoghurt butter, moving on to roast Cornish chicken with pancetta, fresh truffle and parsnips. There are rustic sandwiches that make ideal quick lunches, and a dedicated children's menu too.

Traditional English flavours all feature on the dessert menu at the Restaurant at The Port Gaverne in Cornwall. Enjoy baked vanilla rice pudding, and blackberry and vanilla cheesecake, and be sure to sample something from the carefully crafted wine list.

A charming seaside setting for modern British recipes, The Port Gaverne is moments from the centre of Port Isaac.

Starters and desserts were very good. Quality of our two fish main courses was good but portion of John Dory was very small. Cappucino was not hot.

Excellent food, friendly service, good wines in a relaxed atmosphere. The menu is short but every dish has a subtle ‘twist’ that adds a little extra to the plate - whole roast plaice with mushrooms, seaweed & salsify, or chocolate and stout sponge with espresso ice cream and chocolate stout sauce. The sea views from outside are wonderful, parking can be a challenge.
