We had a lovely meal at the Old Parsonage on Saturday evening. The room is gorgeous with the lighting and paintings, and the food was delicious. Especially the rabbit pie! Great service too.

As we entered we were welcomed and they stored our bags for us. My were taken to the restaurant seated at our table and they took our coats for us. We received prompt, courteous service. The restaurant has black painted walls with various types of art. It is modern but has an elegance to it. I am vegetarian and we ordered the high tea. I was given a good variety of sandwiches, six fingers in total. Very different but interesting fillings from traditional cream cheese and cucumber to sliced avocado and a finger sandwich of sliced beetroot. Then there was two scones each with clotted cream and jam with fresh raspberries then a selection of 5 mini cakes/ pastries. Water was provided on the table complimentary. It was overall a very pleasant, enjoyable experience and I would come again.

I thought the service was excellent and will be coming back. It was my father's birthday and the restaurant made him up a special birthday plate of small cakes and a candle which was lovely gesture and much appreciated. The goats cheese soufflé with cooked beetroot was especially delicious.

Outstanding in every way. The four lovely people who served us - from Slovakia, Poland, Spain and the Czech Republic - were the perfect, welcoming professionals. Please thank them! And the food was terrific, too. Great experience, as always.

The restaurant has a wonderful atmosphere and is full of character. My two meat eating friends had an abundance of choice as to what to eat but unfortunately as a vegan there was absolutely nothing on the menu. Here's five minutes as to why some of us go vegan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcN7SGGoCNI

    1. The savoury high tea was not very good. It contained a mix of fish and meats that were too rich for a tea, the taste was bland, lacking flavour and the combination did not seem very innovative or interesting. It seemed very overpriced for £25. But we would have been happy to pay if the quality of the ingredients had been higher. It could have included a mix of English cheeses perhaps, or Wiltshire ham...Instead, the crab topping only tasted like old butter, the chicken pate was too rich and the rest uninteresting. We both had stomach problems immediately after, holding on until the next morning.

    2. The service could have informed us better about what to expect. To be fair we did not ask and just ordered, but your staff just took the order. It would have been great if they had a bit elaborated on what the tea contains. If we had been vegetarian or anything it would have been really problematic.
The tea pot was too hot and we burnt ourselves painfully twice. Again, the service did not warn us to be careful.

    3. We also had the sweet tea- the scones and rhubarb compote were excellent, but the rest very disappointing; the macaron was too sweet and the whole rest looked bought and it was French- so what was "very high" about it, I don't know.

    4. The tea (the beverage) itself, however, was excellent. And the surrounding is very nice.
