Boasting an AA Rosette for its seasonal European dishes, Moorhill House Hotel packs local ingredients into its lunch, dinner and afternoon tea menus. Nestled in an idyllic New Forest village, the restaurant looks out over the hotel’s beautifully landscaped gardens.

Favourites on the Moorhill House restaurant menu include grilled fillet of haddock with chorizo and chickpea cassoulet, pie of the day with seasonal vegetables and creamy mash, and slow-roasted pork belly with fondant potato, sautéed Savoy cabbage, glazed apple, and local cider sauce. For dessert, savour sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce, black treacle and almond tart with homemade orange ice cream, or a selection of local cheeses.

Afternoon tea at Moorhill House is quintessentially English, with finger sandwiches, cakes and scones served on a tiered cake stand. Champagne and Pimms are on hand to add extra indulgence to proceedings.

Surrounded by the natural beauty of the New Forest, Moorhill House Burley is a 15-minute drive from Ringwood.

All of the food and the service was excellent. We had a lovely, peaceful relaxed meal. So nice to be able to hear each other.
Great lounge to relax in, nice comfy chairs and interesting pictures on the walls etc. Like being in somebody's home.
I would only suggest 1) getting a little Nespresso coffee machine in case customers ask for espresso, as the espressos we ordered tasted rather strange. 2) On the website, give turn by turn directions from Burley, including the little green sign that says 'Private access to hotel and residents only'.

Good food, nice restaurant. We had the waiter who did not want to be there!. When we ordered a bottle of Pino Grigio Rose he bought us a bottle that had been opened and a glass taken out!! We requested a full bottle, which duly arrived, he asked who was tasting it, we replied just pour it out, he replied 'I don't drink wine ,I don't know how to pour it out you will have to pour it out yourselves!' When my side order of vegetables arrived I put some butter on them as they looked dry THE BUTTER DID NOT MELT! We were served someone else's desserts. When my wife's cheese and biscuits arrived the grapes had a 'bloom' on them showing they were not fresh! No biscuits were served so we requested some after a time they were served warm???
Unfortunately there was no one around who appeared to be in charge

    Excellent flavour and nicely presented..
Limited menu - it was the same each evening except for the one extra 'special' dish.
Good for a short stay. Not so good if you're staying longer as the sameness would quickly become boring.

Compared to previous visit (1 year ago) the staff were much less efficient. Initial Service was VERY slow, though they improved as people left. On arrival at our table 2 of the chairs were covered in breadcrumbs from previous diners. There seemed to be plenty of staff for the number of guests but unable to cope properly. Good food as on previous occasions, so would try it again in the hope of getting more capable ataff.

I found the menu to be a bit simple and so my expectations were quite high. For the price we paid for I was disappointed. The soup of the day tasted like tomato soup from a heinz tin. The seasonal veg seemed to be steam veg from a frozen packet. On top of that the service was poor we had 2 children under 5 with us and had to wait almost 2.5 hours for the entire meal.

We're disappointed with the overall experience, especially the afternoon tea and customer service. The sandwiches were thin and of no to little taste with the scones being rock hard with no flavour or substance. We enjoyed the cakes, but the value for money and end product was strongly disappointing.

Throughout the experience , we're not asked whether 1. Followinh up to receiving the afternoon tea about quality or questions from staff 2 would we like a refill or another hot drink. Similarly, the customer service and hospitality from staff members is in need of improvement (please see booking comments below)

Unfortunately the food was very disappointing. I found the main course very bland & the desert dry. I was also charged full price for children's meals and unfortunately didn't notice until after paying. The children's menu was very poor & no healthy options. The hotel itself was wonderful, it was a shame to have such a unsatisfactory meal.

Excellent menu choice, for both adults and children. All food courses tasted fantastic. Service was very friendly and attentive. Decor and surroundings extremely elegant.
