Boasting an AA Rosette for its seasonal European dishes, Moorhill House Hotel packs local ingredients into its lunch, dinner and afternoon tea menus. Nestled in an idyllic New Forest village, the restaurant looks out over the hotel’s beautifully landscaped gardens.
Favourites on the Moorhill House restaurant menu include grilled fillet of haddock with chorizo and chickpea cassoulet, pie of the day with seasonal vegetables and creamy mash, and slow-roasted pork belly with fondant potato, sautéed Savoy cabbage, glazed apple, and local cider sauce. For dessert, savour sticky toffee pudding with toffee sauce, black treacle and almond tart with homemade orange ice cream, or a selection of local cheeses.
Afternoon tea at Moorhill House is quintessentially English, with finger sandwiches, cakes and scones served on a tiered cake stand. Champagne and Pimms are on hand to add extra indulgence to proceedings.
Surrounded by the natural beauty of the New Forest, Moorhill House Burley is a 15-minute drive from Ringwood.

We were really looking forward to an evening meal and nice breakfast but sadly left very disappointed.
We had cheese burger and sea bass. The cheese burger was over cooked and in a cheap roll with bit of lettuce and slice of tomato. Very basic and plain, not even fried onions added. Had to ask for condiments.
The sea bass was well presented but just limp and tasteless with hard broccoli on the side, expecting a lovely meal but so basic.
Breakfast service was a shambles. We waited ages for anyone to take our order (and asked eventually) and when it arrived (after an hour of sitting down) I’ve never seen anything like it. Rock hard bacon and sausages, dry and clearly been kept warm for ages. Amazing poached egg though - I wish I’d just had that on toast. We are really not ones to complain and after the long wait didn’t send anything back but perhaps should have. Felt sorry for staff who seemed to be struggling with the service but were friendly. Lovely hotel and surroundings but this just looked like the hotel was failing. Such a shame as we won’t return.

I brought my mother to have afternoon tea, as I wanted to show her the lovely hotel as I have booked it for a wedding next year. We was greeted by compassion and caring staff, they gave us a choice to sit in the lounge or garden. The gentleman who served us was polite and compassionate, the food was lovely and wasn't too much so we didn't struggle. The hotel is in a lovely quite area of the new forest and it was done up beautifully. I would definitely recommend anyone coming to this hotel

This was our first visit to Moorhill upon recommendation. The staff were extremely helpful from the reception staff to the restaurant staff. We were very impressed. We had a evening meal in the restaurant which was very good and again the staff were very helpful. We subsequently booked a date to return for afternoon tea in two months time! We requested a change on one of the sandwich fillings for the afternoon tea and was reassured that this was possible - and could be done at the time of booking. We can only rate the dining experience below but will rate the afternoon tea experience at a later date.

Have had great meals here before so came for afternoon tea for 3, for my wife's birthday. Booked on advance but had a long wait at reception. Two receptionists but both were busy booking in 3 people to the hotel. Unfortunately, the food was Ok but not exceptional. Really tight with jam/cream for amount of scones but provided more when asked. Waiting on staff are always well mannered here.

We had afternoon tea in the summer room and it was very enjoyable, it was booked for my birthday, the hotel was clean and comfortable, staff very friendly. My only very small criticism is although the staff left you in peace it would have been good if they could have periodically looked in to see if we needed anything, as we did want more drinks, we also noticed other tables needing things. However it was a fantastic experience and as we do t live too far away, will definitely be visiting again.

Enjoyed a very delicious Afternoon Tea at Moorhill House. The sandwiches had innovative fillings, such as Hummus and Beetroot, scones were lovely, and the dainty cakes were perfect. The lounge was very comfortably furnished with a welcoming open fire. The staff were very friendly, polite, and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed.

All of the food and the service was excellent. We had a lovely, peaceful relaxed meal. So nice to be able to hear each other.
Great lounge to relax in, nice comfy chairs and interesting pictures on the walls etc. Like being in somebody's home.
I would only suggest 1) getting a little Nespresso coffee machine in case customers ask for espresso, as the espressos we ordered tasted rather strange. 2) On the website, give turn by turn directions from Burley, including the little green sign that says 'Private access to hotel and residents only'.

Good food, nice restaurant. We had the waiter who did not want to be there!. When we ordered a bottle of Pino Grigio Rose he bought us a bottle that had been opened and a glass taken out!! We requested a full bottle, which duly arrived, he asked who was tasting it, we replied just pour it out, he replied 'I don't drink wine ,I don't know how to pour it out you will have to pour it out yourselves!' When my side order of vegetables arrived I put some butter on them as they looked dry THE BUTTER DID NOT MELT! We were served someone else's desserts. When my wife's cheese and biscuits arrived the grapes had a 'bloom' on them showing they were not fresh! No biscuits were served so we requested some after a time they were served warm???
Unfortunately there was no one around who appeared to be in charge
