Lovely dinner and service
29 June 2017
A stunning Grade II-listed neo-gothic building with hotel rooms upstairs, the Restaurant at The Lemon Tree is an award-winning setting for modern British dining. There is a relaxing bar area to enjoy cocktails in, and afternoon teas are served daily, with all the traditional trimmings.
Locally sourced ingredients prepared with inventive flair go into the Restaurant at The Lemon Tree menu. To start, there is duck and chestnut terrine with beetroot chutney and toasted corn bread, while hearty mains include black pudding-stuffed belly pork with sage mash, tender stem broccoli and roasted baby apple. On Sundays there are traditional roast dinners, as well as seafood options such as salmon fillet chowder with clams, mussels and a mini loaf.
Desserts at the Restaurant at The Lemon Tree in Wrexham include treats like blood orange and chocolate cheesecake with chocolate sorbet and burnt orange coulis. There is a great selection of craft beers and fine wines, while the afternoon teas are packed with indulgent options.
A great example of inventive British dining, the Restaurant at The Lemon Tree sits 11 minutes' walk from Wrexham General Rail Station.

We were given a voucher for The Lemon Tree by my sister-in-law for our Golden Wedding earlier this year. My wife however suffered from a broken wrist and elbow and only recently we were able to use the voucher. After really looking forward to our night out, the restaurant was very pleasant and we were shown to a lovely table. The first course was very nice as was the wine. Our main course was served and we were asked if everything was satisfactory which we responded positive although we had not started eating. My steak, medium rare, was good but my wife's steak, well done, was absolutely disgusting. She said it was like a piece of rubber and no matter how much she chewed, it's texture didn't change and she could not swallow. After unsuccessful trying, she gave up halfway through leaving half a steak and the other half chewed but on her plate. At this point I found the waiter and expressed my disappointment to which he offered another steak but by this time my wife was so disgusted that she refused. We were then informed not to worry because our disappointment would be reflected in the bill. On paying the bill we were so angry to see he would only deduct the cost of two sauces and one portion of vegetables. It will be no surprise that we will definitely not be recommending nor returning to this "high class" restaurant.

I had the Lamb rump and my husband had 10oz rump steak. Both meals were nicely presented and hot. The steak was one of the best my husband had tasted and melted in the mouth. The 3x cooked chip were lovely, complimenting the meat perfectly. The dauphinoise potatoes worked nicely with the lamb. All washed down with 2 bottles of the house Malbec .

Nice friendly staff. Both my wife ans I had prawn fishcakes and although nice lacked prawns.
Mains and sweets nice. My steak was nice but not cheap and paying £2.95 extra for a sauce seemed a bit excessive . It was a bit runny and lacked taste.
Overall enjoyed the meal although it was a bit expensive for what it was
Staff were very helpful
