Beautiful location and delicious Sunday lunch! Was perfect as I normally
work every Sunday but was so nice to go out and spend the day elsewhere and enjoy a lovely meal.

For such a luxurious looking stately set up why is the lunch menu light bites only or afternoon tea. I went super hungry and ordered the Blt club sandwich for £16 it was not double stacked as I expected it was a small sandwich of ciabatta bread it was loaded with so much mayo and served with lettuce that was brown and old so how that left the kitchen is beyond me. Neither of us fancied the puddings so we asked for a piece of cake seeing the afternoon teas starting to come out, we were offered cookies or brownies, we declined. This location was perfect for me and a friend to meet as it is 1 hours drive for us both, but we won’t be back.

Amazing! From the moment we arrived we were treated as VIP’s. The staff were attentive and when the afternoon tea arrived all food items were described in mouth watering detail. A selection of teas and coffees were available.
There was only one downside - only one pot of tea/coffee included in the price. We will return.

I dined at the Ickworth because I was given a restaurant voucher as a gift. I expected the meal to be good as it is a 4* hotel. My wife and I decided to order a main course and a dessert which was a big mistake. I ordered Butternut squash cavatelli and my wife The Dedham Vale Ingleton. My fife decided to order some potatoes as a side dish as the waitress said the dish didn’t come with any. On taking the order the waitress returned to say there were no new potatoes and that she could have triple cooked chips instead. She described to go ahead but said she would have preferred new potatoes. When our mains arrived we were shocked at the small quantities. My pasta would have been more suited to a toddler, which at £18 was unacceptable. My wiffe’s tiny ribbons of meat at £22, were also unacceptably small and laid on three leeks. We felt that vegatbles should have come with these dishes at these expensive prices. The mains tasted nice, however my wife said that the chilps were so salty that after one mouthful the rest of her main course was impossible to taste. The desserts were better sized for the expensive price tags; I had a chocolate brownie and my wife ice-cream. The thing that really annoyed us was the size of the children’s meals. Their mains were priced at £7 and a bowl of pasta was three times the size of my main. The desserts were equally as big. I know this is fine dining but you do expect a certain amount of food and wish to leave a restaurant full when you have paid a lot of money for something. This was the worst value for money meal I have ever had and it wasn’t anything special taste-wise.

Afternoon tea, lovely selection, very pleasant and attentive staff. Booking was difficult as the main hotel phone was never answered, however online booking was fine. Only disappointment was that in 30 degree heat there wasn't the option of a cooler room and the conservatory was stifling. Why couldn't the (much cooler) main restaurant be laid for afternoon tea?

Nice surroundings, high standard of food, good service, pleasant and helpful staff.
One little niggle was a few flies present so a may of dealing with this would help in the hot weather.
