Restaurant description

The Whitebrook holds a Michelin star and 4 AA Rosettes. Serving modern British cuisine, the restaurant benefits from stunning views of the Wye Valley.

Using exciting ingredients foraged locally, the food is rustic but creative. Start with squab pigeon with cauliflower, rhubarb and bitter leaves, or flame-grilled mackerel fillet with baked apple, pickled cucumber and laver seaweed. Amongst the exquisitely presented mains are suckling pig with pine nut purée, violet artichokes and hop shoots, and the featherblade of Longhorn beef with quinoa, kohlrabi, nettle and horseradish. The Whitebrook taster menu offers an intriguing array of wild produce, with the option of carefully selected wines to accompany the dishes.

Décor at The Whitebrook Monmouth is rustic but sophisticated, with exposed wooden beams, wooden flooring and neutral colours. Both the restaurant and the tranquil terrace enjoy views of the surrounding countryside.

On the doorstep of the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, The Whitebrook restaurant sits in a beautiful rural location. The town of Monmouth is a 13-minute drive away.

Stunning meal in an enchanting location. It was the best meal I have enjoyed this year. As I regularly dine in 1 star Michelin restaurants this by far the best I have eaten in over the last 18 months. I would highly recommend The Whitebrook to anyone who enjoys beautiful food that has exceptional flavour combinations.

Every aspect of our experience was wonderful. As soon as we arrived, we were welcomed and made to feel very special by the front of house team, who were attentive and informative without being intrusive. The atmosphere was calm and the decor tasteful, with comfortable sofas, armchairs and dining chairs. And all this before the dining experience began. The pre-dinner cocktails were delicious and established the philosophy of The Whitebrook of using locally sourced and foraged ingredients. We opted for the five course tasting menu with wine pairings. Ultimately there were about nine courses including chef’s treats and an amuse bouche. Each course and associated wine was carefully explained to us and any questions we had were answered knowledgeably. The food on every plate was exquisite. Presentation, the flavours and textures, all were superb. The stand out dish was the melt in the mouth lamb, which we learnt had been cooked in the sous- vide for three days! The entire experience lasted about four hours but we have never known that time to pass so quickly. An absolute delight.

Brilliant food but hardly any atmosphere and too long between courses.

The food was delicious the flavours were so delicate only slight criticism was the weighting time we arrived at 8.30 pm prompt we did not get seated till 9.10pm And we left the restaurant at midnight 3.5 hrs we were fighting to stay awake for the last hour of the meal. This aside the food was divine.
