Restaurant description

The Whitebrook holds a Michelin star and 4 AA Rosettes. Serving modern British cuisine, the restaurant benefits from stunning views of the Wye Valley.

Using exciting ingredients foraged locally, the food is rustic but creative. Start with squab pigeon with cauliflower, rhubarb and bitter leaves, or flame-grilled mackerel fillet with baked apple, pickled cucumber and laver seaweed. Amongst the exquisitely presented mains are suckling pig with pine nut purée, violet artichokes and hop shoots, and the featherblade of Longhorn beef with quinoa, kohlrabi, nettle and horseradish. The Whitebrook taster menu offers an intriguing array of wild produce, with the option of carefully selected wines to accompany the dishes.

Décor at The Whitebrook Monmouth is rustic but sophisticated, with exposed wooden beams, wooden flooring and neutral colours. Both the restaurant and the tranquil terrace enjoy views of the surrounding countryside.

On the doorstep of the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, The Whitebrook restaurant sits in a beautiful rural location. The town of Monmouth is a 13-minute drive away.

The tasting menu was a wonderful experience, our only criticism was the dining room was cold. As a designated driver I think there should be non alcoholic wine option, We’re looking forward to returning in the new year.

3rd time visit. Again a superb lunch with an autumnally inspired amuse bouche - amazing creation -, and a differently textured liver pate as the highlights for me. All the dishes were of very high standard and very attractively presented with good use of locally sourced herbs and plants. Bread offer could still be improved.

Wine Pairing was sublime. Visit and book a room to sleep off the alcohol - it’s not an experience to restrain.

Nice restaurant, very friendly staff. Loved the amuse bouche. Parfait starter was so smooth, divine. The lamb main course was so tender you didn't require a knife. Dessert beautifully presented and tasted good.

My partner and I had lunch at the restaurant when the magnificent trees at Whitebrook and in the Wye Valley were in full autumn colour. What a beautiful unspoilt location. The atmosphere in the restaurant was calm and relaxed, and the service was very good. It is worth allowing plenty of time to fully enjoy the dining experience. We selected the three course menu followed by a cheese board. I had two fish dishes (starter and main) and a raspberry desert. My partner chose two meat dishes and a pear desert. We both enjoyed each of our courses immensely, and we would especially highlight the two main courses of plaice and lamb. The flavour combinations were original and the depth of flavour of each course served was exceptional. A series of tasty amuses bouches throughout the meal added to the experience. In the wide-ranging Welsh cheese board we both discovered delicious cheeses we had not previously encountered. Similarly the wine list offered wide and interesting choice. We found nothing mediocre or uninteresting, and nothing less than delicious.
