The food was absolutely perfect and the tasting menu was very good value at £52.
The service was superb, not too intrusive, just right.
I would certainly return

The Whitebrook holds a Michelin star and 4 AA Rosettes. Serving modern British cuisine, the restaurant benefits from stunning views of the Wye Valley.

Using exciting ingredients foraged locally, the food is rustic but creative. Start with squab pigeon with cauliflower, rhubarb and bitter leaves, or flame-grilled mackerel fillet with baked apple, pickled cucumber and laver seaweed. Amongst the exquisitely presented mains are suckling pig with pine nut purée, violet artichokes and hop shoots, and the featherblade of Longhorn beef with quinoa, kohlrabi, nettle and horseradish. The Whitebrook taster menu offers an intriguing array of wild produce, with the option of carefully selected wines to accompany the dishes.

Décor at The Whitebrook Monmouth is rustic but sophisticated, with exposed wooden beams, wooden flooring and neutral colours. Both the restaurant and the tranquil terrace enjoy views of the surrounding countryside.

On the doorstep of the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, The Whitebrook restaurant sits in a beautiful rural location. The town of Monmouth is a 13-minute drive away.

We opted for the lunchtime taster menu, with the aim of enjoying a long leisurely lunch over exquisitely crafted local and foraged delicacies. We weren’t disappointed! The service was friendly and attentive without being overly stiff or formal. The surrounding were stylish, simple and rustic with a views across the narrow green valley of towering trees rustling in the breeze. Each dish was a visual work of art, embellished with edible flowers and grasses, foams and purées. Delightlfully fresh and a real taste adventure.

A unique experience where you can try special, local ingredients like the ‚Chicken of the Tree‘. We loved the restaurant, the excellent choice of wine and the nice chat with the chef himself!

Our experience was second to none. The decor and layout were spot on. Not crammed with tables so it was a personal experience as well as sharing the ambience with other diners. The weather was nice so drinks in the garden was a treat. Staff were very knowledgeable and welcoming, the attention was spot on, not too much not too little. This was a real treat for us and not the type of dining experience we have ever had and it will remain a wonderful memory. My favourite dish was the Welsh lamb, melt in the mouth and cooked to perfection. I love the way the vegetables in the dishes were equal stars in the show along with the meat. My wife’s favourite dish was the delicate fish dish with cod roe. The cheese selection was outstanding and the knowledge the cheeses were served with was superb. The sommelier chose perfect wines for us, not wines we would have normally chosen but they were just perfect. Thank you all for the most memorable experience and we will visit again when we are in the area.

Delicious, creative menu. The waiting staff were very kind and friendly - they allowed us to change our booking date because my husband was feeling poorly and were happy to offer single classes of wine from the very interesting menu. Thank you!

Décor of the restaurant was stylish. Presence of a terrace was a significant bonus and the forestry view from the terrace was very pleasing. Waiters were very efficient without being too intrusive, Favourite dish was the lamb with the salmon a very close second. Value for money on the three course set lunch was very good given the excellent quality of the food. Pity champagne prices could not be more cost effective but unfortunately that is the same with all restaurants. The only place I have ever been impressed with the cost of champagne is All Bar One!

Very welcoming and very friendly. Very informative of the wines and dishes. The dishes themselves were of the highest order in presentation and taste. It's an exceptional restaurant and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience of dining there.

You would have to travel far to equal this excellent restaurant. This was fine dining personified with service both friendly and timely and knowledgable. As a plus the setting in spring was idyllic.

Been here before under previous ownership/management and left disappointed. Not this time. Menu rustically seasonal sparsely worded and a limited choice on a Sunday if not eating the tasting menu but don’t let that fool you. The offerings were innovative interesting and delicious. They got better and better and we left feeling happy and satisfied in both the wallet and stomach. If I’m being picky they forgot one of our party didn’t eat red meat and had to be reminded but this was quickly remedied and easily forgiven by the attentive service and fabulous food. We will be back!
