The Whitebrook holds a Michelin star and 4 AA Rosettes. Serving modern British cuisine, the restaurant benefits from stunning views of the Wye Valley.

Using exciting ingredients foraged locally, the food is rustic but creative. Start with squab pigeon with cauliflower, rhubarb and bitter leaves, or flame-grilled mackerel fillet with baked apple, pickled cucumber and laver seaweed. Amongst the exquisitely presented mains are suckling pig with pine nut purée, violet artichokes and hop shoots, and the featherblade of Longhorn beef with quinoa, kohlrabi, nettle and horseradish. The Whitebrook taster menu offers an intriguing array of wild produce, with the option of carefully selected wines to accompany the dishes.

Décor at The Whitebrook Monmouth is rustic but sophisticated, with exposed wooden beams, wooden flooring and neutral colours. Both the restaurant and the tranquil terrace enjoy views of the surrounding countryside.

On the doorstep of the Wye Valley and the Forest of Dean, The Whitebrook restaurant sits in a beautiful rural location. The town of Monmouth is a 13-minute drive away.

    It was a perfect evening. We sampled the seven course taster menu which was absolutely devine. Each of the courses were explained when served, the ingredients etc. It would be Impossible to say what a favourite dish was because they were all just so lovely.
    The atmosphere of the Whitebrook was very relaxed and informal and we were made to feel very welcome from the moment we walked in through the door to the moment they wished us goodnight and a safe onward journey.
    The service was excellent, with staff being attentive, and just the right amount of time between dishes being served.
    We had pre dinner drinks sat on the terrace as it was a lovely warm evening. The setting was very peaceful and tranquil, a perfect way to start out dining experience.
    It was a wonderful evening and I can't recommend trying the Whitebrook enough. A return visit is definitely on the agenda. Happy memories created.

    Lunch at the Whitebrook was everything you would expect from dining at a Michelin starred restaurant. Fabulous service, a lovely atmosphere, exquisitely cooked food, lovely combinations of flavours and fantastic wine pairing on the tasting menu.

    The meal we had at The Whitebrook was exquisite from start to finish. Along with the little surprise tasters we had as well. The pork dish was delectable and the very tiny potatoes were a real revelation as to how good the humble potato can be. The desert I chose which was Violet was the best tasting desert I have ever had. So congratulations to the chef. The staff were a delight, not at all stuffy which is a credit to the establishment. Thanks to all for our memorable meal and we hope to return in the not too distant future.

    Wonderful evening, amazing food and wines and we were made to feel very special. Not cheap but for a special occasion I can't think of a better dining experience. We had the 7 course tasting menu with additional cheese course and tasting wines so we really pushed the boat out. The level of detail in the dishes was amazing. Each one was small yet perfect building layers of flavour. Most were understated and subtle but this encouraged slow eating - appreciating the nuances of each dish. We particularly loved the lamb main, the violet pre-dessert and the black pudding starter. The accompanying wines had been carefully chosen and were all a bit different, perfectly matching the food. They represent a considerable step up in the price of the meal but we were not disappointed at having chosen them and the sommelier gave an explanation of each one prior to drinking. We chatted to some over diners who all seemed to be enjoying he experience as much as we did and all in all a fabulous evening.

    The overall experience was fine, and the food was good, if a little overseasoned I have eaten in many starred restaurants and in my opinion it did not entirely fulfill its promise. In the final analysis, when adding the cost of wine, tea and cheese course it was very expensive and did not represent value for money. I expect a lot more from a Michelin starred establishment

    Found a small insect alive in one of my dishes and a small bone in the turbot filet that got stuck in my throat. Was too slow between courses.
