A beautiful Victorian villa in Hove, The Claremont has won the Global Luxury Travel Guide award for best boutique hotel in East Sussex. Wonderfully traditional British afternoon teas are served on vintage china, with a tranquil private walled garden providing an ideal setting for the warmer months.

The Claremont afternoon tea menu is faithful to British traditions, and uses locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. Delicate finger sandwiches some generously filled with classics like Wiltshire gammon with Dijon mustard, cream cheese and cucumber, and Scottish smoked salmon. Freshly baked mini plain scones come with luscious Cornish clotted cream and strawberry preserve.

Afternoon tea at The Claremont Hove offers up a selection of sweet treats, such as moist Victoria sponge, macaroons, as well as rhubarb and ginger. In addition to tea and coffee, there is also the option to add a glass of prosecco or champagne.

Also offering a dedicated children's afternoon tea menu, The Claremont is a short walk from the seafront, and only 5 minutes' drive from Hove Rail Station.

We have visited The Claremont Hotel before during the Brighton Festival when it is open as part of the Open Houses scheme exhibiting work by a number of artists. We returned to have an Afternoon Tea to celebrate Fathers Day. We had a warm and friendly welcome by the staff and were shown into the Drawing room where the tea was laid out for us. We had hoped to sit in the lovely garden but unfortunately the weather was cold and windy. The vintage china was very attractive and we were quickly supplied with sandwiches, tea and coffee. We were regularly checked on to see if we required any assistance. A three tier cake stand was bought in with our mini scones and a selection of cakes. We also had jam and cream and a pot of rhubarb tea to accompany the cakes. We were the only people having tea at that time so it was very quiet. Later we managed a short visit to the garden to have a look around. Hopefully should we visit again the sun will shine and we can partake of our tea in the garden!.
