Restaurant description

A 2 AA Rosette-awarded restaurant housed within a luxury Tudor hotel, the restaurant at Seckford Hall presents an elegant, modern dining experience. Named the 1530 Restaurant for its historical heritage, expect exciting, contemporary iterations of traditional favourites.

Stunning presentation in the Seckford Hall restaurant is a leitmotif through classy starters like the velvety chicken liver and foie gras parfait with plum compote, and enticing mains, such as the ‘trio of pork’ with pork chop, twice-cooked belly and black pudding boudin. A cardamom panna cotta with espresso brûlée is among a selection of sophisticated desserts.

Ornately carved wooden panels line the walls of the 1530 Restaurant at Seckford Hall, and are bathed in natural light from tall, latticed windows. The restaurant’s wine list is extensive and features world picks alongside renowned classic champagnes.

The 1530 Restaurant at Seckford Hall is kept company by The Great Hall Champagne and Cocktail Bar and the cosy Snug Bar. Seckford Hall is adjacent to Seckford Hall Golf Club in Woodbridge.

The afternoon tea was very nice, in particular the scotch egg which was delicious! We were seated in a small area outside the main lounge which felt like a private room for our party of 7, which was nice. However, this did mean that service was a bit hit and miss as waiters kept disappearing!

I was brought a pot of hot water that should have been coffee. I had to ask for white sugar as there was only brown on the table - and loose sugar is preferable to irregular-sized lumps. Had to ask for clean cutlery and plates tor dessert [as Coronation chicken sauce does not go with cake or fruit scones]. A choice of tea was not offered [breakfast, Earl grey, Darjeeling, fruit etc], nor a choice of coffee [which was luke-warm and v strong]. Had wait and to ask for the bill, Staff v helpful but should not have needed to be asked, Food and drinks excellent, especially the fruit scones. Setting excellent - have been before on other occasions.

We both Love Seckford Hall and for many years have Lunched together. My friend travels to Woodbridge from Her home near Beccles because the Service and the food is good.

The dining experience was wonderful. The quiet, quaint atmosphere made for making memories. The food, very tasty. Especially enjoyed the scotch egg, but the scones were the STARS OF THE SHOW!!!!!!!!!! I must admit, I did miss a sausage roll element. A sausage roll bite would have been a perfect addition. Being American with close family in Suffolk, there are certain specialties that I look forward to. You were spot on with the scones, scotch egg, sandwiches, Victoria sponge slice, battenburg bite. Also, a black currant jam would be a nice offering with the scones, even though it is not traditional. Would so enjoy another afternoon tea at Seckford Hall!

Always a pleasure to see the building with its old architecture. A professional welcome with attentive service. A good selection of teas available and needs catered for. Ambient surroundings but looking a little tired and worn - carpets could do with a good clean. Food available for afternoon tea was presented in a tempting and colourful array of sandwiches and good variety of cakes/scones. The scotch eggs should not be part of a traditional English afternoon tea. The bread used in finger sandwiches was dry in part unfortunately but the fillings were delicious. We appreciated a second cup of tea! Payment was quick and easy. In all a good experience and recommended.

What a lovely setting for afternoon tea. The staff were incredibly polite and welcoming and the afternoon tea delicious - particularly the home made scotch eggs. Delightful.

Service was good and friendly, drinks were fine and served in a timely manner as was the food, but unfortunately my food was not cooked to order, as I requested a steak cooked medium well and it arrived well done and looked as it had been cooked by utilising a flame thrower
