Great afternoon tea. Good selection of sandwiches, scotch eggs, 2 scones (too much) and cakes plenty of tea, all served with style in wonderful surroundings

We had a one night stay in the hotel to celebrate two birthdays with friends and decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. The hotel is a stunning Tudor building complete with a set of armour standing guard in the entrance hall. The dinning room had a lovely atmosphere and the food did not disappoint. The waiters were friendly and knowledgeable and were happy to give full explanations as to the ingredients of the dishes. The dishes looked appetising and were beautifully presented, my husband had crab cakes for starters and although he thoroughly enjoyed them, felt that they could have had a bit more crab content but certainly wasn't complaining. It was a lovely way to mark the birthdays and we all had an extremely enjoyable stay.

Food was good, but we were very disappointed to find that we were the only table in the restaurant occupied, this was a 70th wedding anniversary so completely lacked a celebration atmosphere.

3 out of 4 of us having January birthdays, one a bit special because it ended in 5, we decided to celebrate with afternoon tea at Seckford Hall. My husband and I had visited twice before, staying overnight the last time. I can’t get enough of this sensational building. I find it stunning both inside and out. On this occasion service was exceptional, the afternoon tea faultless. Our guests were over the moon. I strongly recommend a visit if you have never been. Like me you won’t be able to wait until the next time.

We ate at this restaurant approx. 18 months ago and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. However, yesterday I can only say was a completely different experience. The menu choice was disappointing (quite downmarket / basic in the choices available). The soup tasted as if it had come from a can. The Garlic and mushroom tart was dry and tasteless. The Turkey dinner was again like a ready meal with the most appalling gravy we have ever had at a restaurant and this flooded the plate. The gravy tasted like it had been manufactured from gravy granules of some description and did not appear to have any meat juices in it at all. The Cod Supreme was cooked well but did contain two bones which we were not expecting. The Cheese and biscuits was good although there were not enough biscuits for the amount of cheese. We were asked if everything had been ok and told the waitress that we were not impressed. Yesterday was my wife's Birthday and I certainly was not going to make a scene which would have upset her. If we had been served this meal at a pub chain restaurant we would have been disappointed. To be served it at Seckford Hall leaves me astounded.

A pleasure to eat in a Tudor (1530) building, in a beautiful part of Suffolk. The food is excellent, and the service superb. Recommended for that special occasion.

The afternoon tea was excellent, we had booked to sit in the restaurant but, were shown into the lounge. A lovely room in itself, comfortable. I would have preferred to sit at a table though, (personal preference for me), my guests did not mind. I think the waiter was quite busy, he could have done with some help I feel. The tea was superb, the lightest of scones and just the right amount of cake.

Lovely afternoon tea yesterday with a friend!

Enjoyed afternoon tea on Saturday 9th November. We were originally seated a table in the library but this was at a coffee table and we asked to move to a “normal” table. This was no problem and they were happy to lay a table in the restaurant for us. The afternoon tea was lovely - three finger sandwiches, half a scotch egg, a plain and a fruit scone and three small cakes per person. Unlimited tea or coffee.
