Restaurant description

Offering spectacular views out over the Ayrshire coastline, Truin Restaurant at Marine Hotel offers diners a gourmet taste of modern Scottish dining with subtle international tweaks in an idyllic setting. Enjoy traditional afternoon teas with a unique selection of freshly prepared cakes, or add a delicious cocktail or glass of fizz to celebrate the occasion.

The Truin Restaurant a la carte is available for both lunch and dinner and can be served in the Arran Lounge too. The menu starts off with generously filled sandwiches, sharing platters, signature burgers and traditional dishes. Enjoy a steak from the grill from carefully selected Scotch beef aged for a minimum of 30 days for flavour and succulence.

Indulge afterwards with a selection of desserts, again all prepared freshly in the hotel. Lighter options also feature at Truin Restaurant in Ayrshire, with superfood salads and Mediterranean pasta recipes. When taking advantage of the beach walks in Troon, pit stop on the terrace and watch the sunset with a cold or hot drink.

An elegant, tranquil restaurant on the Ayrshire coast, Triun Restaurant at Marine Hotel is a 4-minute drive from Troon Rail Station.

After the wine and water classes were replaced with clean glasses, our dining experience improved. The service was average, waiting staff seemed either bored or disinterested in their work, they weren't unpleasant, just not very interactive and almost sad looking. The food was average and the atmosphere was lacking - as in, there wasn't one. All very functional which is possibly all part of the massive upgrade project that has started and due to finish in August 2020. We intend to revisit before the end of 2020, just to compare the experience and we are optimistic that there will be great improvement. Booking the table on line was straightforward and simple.

Restaurant was nice. However the waiting staff were slow and did not pay attention to our order. Order was mixed up even though we made sure we made sure to mention the butter allergy before booking in online and then mentioned it to the waitress twice we still got the sandwiches with butter. The place was empty and staff didn’t pay much attention to our table. We had to constantly get their attention.

With fabulous views over the gold course and to Arran, it is a real shame the food is no more than average, with a not very inspiring generic menu, low on local produce and freshness. I hope, when the Marine itself is restored, the cuisine will be restored as well. One of the speciality wines (there were only 8 on offer) was not available and we had to go for something about £15 dearer. Restaurant itself (the interior decor) was dated and not really worthy of a hotel of the Marine’s past reputation

The food and service are excellent, but the view of the clubhouse and 18th hole at Royal Troon is the reason that every golfer should eat and stay at the Marine Hotel.

NYE set meal. Meal was good overall but disappointing in some aspects. One dish was advertised to come with broccoli- I got one stem of broccoli. The other was the sea breem which came with mainly beans and a very small piece of fish.

Booked this for a prefirework dinner, the fireworks got rescheduled but we decided to give it a shot anyway. Nice building, great ample parking, friendly welcome, taken to table immediately, nice view and tables set up well, menu given right away. Drinks order took a while to be taken and to arrive ( arrived after the starter) but waiter did apologise. All courses were beautiful. I recommend the parfait, bread basket, belly pork and cheesecake. I did request a substitution which didn't happen but it was sorted out and I wasn't over charged. I went away full and happy. It was a nice atmosphere and somewhere I will be back to for my Christmas meal. Maybe just order two drinks at a time, only advice if going.

The food was delicious and presented very well. The dining staff were very attentive who ensured that all 9 meals came at the same time.
