We have dined in the restaurant at the East Sussex National on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed with the experience. The staff are attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant is light and airy with plenty of space between the tables to provide a relaxing dining experience. There is a good choice of dishes whether you choose the a la carte or menu of the day and the presentation and quality of each dish is a culinary delight. We had the crab cake for starter followed by the stonebass, which if you like fish I would certainly recommend. If you wish to take wine with your meal there is an extensive choice from around the world with a clear description to help you make a decision. On our recent visit the hotel was decorated for Christmas and the restaurant as with other areas of the hotel, was tastefully dressed.

Reception unable to advise if we had a booking, suggested we try at bar. Bar staff asked us to sit in bar and await seating, no menu or drink menu suggested or provided. Once at table, restaurant menu not available, provided with bar menu, bare table on edge of bar area as restaurant area set up for afternoon tea at 13:00. Left without eating. Chased through car park by manager who offered to provide evening restaurant menu as we were standing at the car. Blown it well before then.
