We had two meals at your restaurant and were disappointed in the preparation. We ordered hamburgers rare and they were overdone like the omelette we had the next day. We were so specific about our orders and we had the impression the chef does not listen.

We booked for afternoon tea in the Restaurant, we were told on arrival that it would be in the bar. The food was excellent, the service poor the staff being very busy dealing with a wedding which was taking place. On the next table there was a women sitting in just her swimming costume. The occasion was a treat for Fathers Day

Lovely, generous afternoon tea - with nice outlook. Pleasant staff.

A group of four of us went for afternoon tea. It was a beautiful day and first impressions of the hotel were very positive. A table had been set up for us so we told them our tea and coffee requirements and sat down. When the food came it was nicely presented, but one of our group has a yeast allergy so can't eat normal bread and they hadn't catered for her needs, as was requested at the time of booking. This was mentioned and was subsequently remedied after a fairly long wait. A cake was also missing and had to be pointed out. The sandwiches were nice but could have been made with a bit more care as the cucumber was in chunks instead of slices, the egg mayonnaise was hardly noticeable and the salmon was very thick and chewy. The scones had been overcooked as the outsides were very crunchy instead of being light and fluffy. The staff were attentive after the initial sandwich hiccup but the place wasn't busy by any means, in fact, we were the only people having afternoon tea. A lovely glass of Prosecco alongside made us feel content though! Overall, the outing was an okay one but would think twice about going back for afternoon tea again.

Really enjoyed our afternoon tea. Service was excellent, lovely sandwiches, beautiful scones, tons of clotted cream and enjoyed all the cakes. We had a table with view across the golf course and countryside. Well done.

Dreadful. The food was extremely poor.

Very nice food and surroundings also staff polite and helpful... afternoon tea quite expensive compared to other places

There were not many people in the restaurant but the food and the service were excellent.

We have dined in the restaurant at the East Sussex National on numerous occasions and have never been disappointed with the experience. The staff are attentive without being intrusive. The restaurant is light and airy with plenty of space between the tables to provide a relaxing dining experience. There is a good choice of dishes whether you choose the a la carte or menu of the day and the presentation and quality of each dish is a culinary delight. We had the crab cake for starter followed by the stonebass, which if you like fish I would certainly recommend. If you wish to take wine with your meal there is an extensive choice from around the world with a clear description to help you make a decision. On our recent visit the hotel was decorated for Christmas and the restaurant as with other areas of the hotel, was tastefully dressed.
