The food was good but it turned out not to be a "restaurant dining experience" as on both occasions we booked to restaurant other function were on. On the first occasion we were 'demoted' to the bar and on the second found ourselves, after a short while, the only people in the restaurant while the staff cleared up and laid up for breakfast. so, not the best 'experience' of dining.

Below average afternoon tea. One fancy fruit cake, one small square of carrot cake, one cream and fruit compote. Sandwiches not trimmed of crusts completely and one small quiche cut in half for 2. Scones were rock hard. Pot of tea was refilled on request with the original tea bags so watery.

Our 1st night at the hotel we had a meal in the restaurant. The waitress was polite, but it took a long time for each course to arrive, the longest was 45 minute wait for a cheesecake dessert. The food itself was ok, I feel as though mine had been standing there for a while, it was lukewarm and the vegetables had gone a bit soft in the sauce. The whole meal from start to finish took 2 1/2 hours. The 2nd night we ate in the bar and it was beautiful never waited for anything, the food was excellent, I had the steak and it was delicious.

It was my first visit to the Rembrandt Hotel. I was with a friend when the family group at a neighbouring table got a phone call with the tragic news that three other close members of the family had been killed in a car accident in Nairobi. Naturally the family were greatly distressed and we did our best to console them. Nobody felt like eating and we decided to leave after the first course of the carvery. Your staff were excellent in the way they responded to the crisis and the calm manager very kindly insisted that we have the meal on the house. Top marks to your staff. I will return when hopefully there will be no tragic news to overshadow the excellent food.

The bar at your hotel was absolutely great! Waiter service was wonderful and the waiters always had a friendly smile and interacted. The last night at the hotel we spent in the bar and everyone was like friends/family!

I booked champagne afternoon tea for 2 in the lounge. It was very comfortable and the service was good. I did feel that 2 large television screens were rather distracting, I would have preferred somewhere a little quieter. The sandwiches were delicious and the scones also. However I felt that the cakes were rather disappointing, they were delicious but on a plate of 6 small cakes I did not expect 4 of them to be exactly the same. Surely your chef could be a little more inventive? The strawberries which came with the champagne were sliced into small pieces and were lost in a mountain of cream. I had previously imagined a bowl of strawberries to be just that - a bowl of strawberries - there were very few of them and we really did not need all that cream after scones and cream.! There was a good choice of teas but i have had better afternoon tea in other establishments.
