With striking floral print on the walls, art by Alexander Hollweg and tartan seating throughout, Refuel is a brilliantly stylish eatery inside the popular Soho Hotel. Inventive, beautifully presented dishes are served throughout the day, along with contemporary afternoon teas and signature cocktails.
The Refuel menu kicks off daily with brunch, offering classics ranging from eggs any way, to Canadian pancakes with bacon and maple syrup, or French toast with caramelised bananas and honey yoghurt. Later in the day, diners can sample bold flavour combinations in starters like seared tuna with ponzu, avocado puree, chilli, coriander and truffle oil, while hearty mains include slow-braised ox cheek with beetroot mash, heritage carrots and red wine jus. There are premium steaks from the grill, and vegetarian pasta recipes like oft herb gnocchi primavera with mint and feta.
Afternoon tea at Refuel offers traditional scones and international teas, as well as eclectic items like leek, cheese and oney roast ham croquette, and sweet treats like chocolate and orange flower pot with chocolate soil. A huge range of signature cocktails, premier spirits, champagnes and wines are served at the Refuel bar in Soho, as well as a menu of light bites such as pulled pork sliders, spring rolls and mini Scotch quail's eggs.
A bold, stylish venue with impeccable presentation, Refuel in London is 6 minutes' walk from Tottenham Court Road Tube Station.

I was expecting to be in an area just for afternoon teas rather than the restaurant

Lovely experience. Service was kind and efficient. The library room where we sat was cosy. And delicious food for a great value for money high tea.

Excellent welcoming by staff, great service and manager did an excellent job in getting us sitted asap, despite their booking system failing to properly reflect our booking. Lovely decor, atmosphere and spacious tables. Complimentary bellinis by manager Ramina made our visit even more enjoyable and i would definitely recommend it. Only 2 small complaints: afternoon tea pricing at 26 gbp is not very competitive (as compared to ie. Liberty) and charging 5,75 for a bottle of Evian was sth we found a bit off putting.

Had a lovely afternoon tea at refuel. The food was wonderful, beautifully presented. Nice atmosphere in the restaurant , great for a girls outing! Staff could have been slightly more attentive when we first arrived but were helpful when we wanted to move tables after in order to have cocktails. All in all a lovely plac for afternoon tea and cocktails.

I'd really recommend refuel for afternoon tea. The food was delicious and although it was really upmarket the service and atmosphere was very relaxed and friendly.

I treated three of my friends to afternoon tea here on the first Saturday in January. We were seated in one of the lounge rooms which is done up to look like a library, which I LOVED. The china was gorgeous, which isn't always the case with afternoon teas where it's clearly been used too many times. Our waiter was a youngish guy with a beard and glasses and he was fab - always appeared at just the right moments, when we needed more water or hot water in our teapots. (I mention his appearance in case hotel management read this and can praise him from us!)
My friends all had loose teas (I had a teabag, but I have to have decaff so that was totally fine by me) and it was great that we could get hot water refills. And the food was definitely the highlight: I've never had such a variety for afternoon tea before! Our savouries were a little ham hock bun, a mushroom arancin ball (my fave), a BLT finger sandwich and a crayfish finger sandwich (my friends' fave.) Two of our BLT sandwiches actually had no bacon in them, however, so my friend mentioned it to this kind waiter and he swiftly got them replaced, which I thought was great.
Then there were the scones (1 plain and 1 fruit each) but they were brought wrapped up in napkins to keep them warm - another nice touch. My favourite tier was then definitely the sweet tier: the lemon tart was divine, the toffee apple cupcake so sweet but so tasty, the panacotta perfectly topped with tart berries and the only slight disappointment was the blondie brownie, which was a bit too doughy.
The highlight was when two waiters brought in plates with 'Happy Birthday' written on them for my 3 friends, upon which were some bits of fruit, macarons and truffles, very elegantly presented. It was just the kind of perfect afternoon I wanted when I booked it as a joint birthday present for my 3 best friends and I'm so pleased it went so well. For the price, I'll definitely be doing afternoon tea in this hotel chain again!
