On the wall of the Ratskeller is an old dark wooden sideboard on top of which are a couple of ornamental plates and a vase. There is a painting in a golden frame hanging over it. Fritz Korten, the great-grandfather of the current owner, set up the Ratskeller in Wülfrath in 1902. While the interior has remained largely unchanged, the fresh wind of change has swept through the restaurant bringing modern German cuisine onto the menu. Some of Fritz Korten's dishes are still there. Schnitzel tapas are the main attraction at the Ratskeller on Thursdays. The restaurant regularly holds culinary themed events, adding colour to the proceedings.
