On arrival, on Saturday afternoon, we decided to have a snack in the restaurant. My husband had a toasted sandwich & I opted for the calamari with mayo dip. It was very good, and boded well for the evening meal. At dinner, we had a 3 course meal, which was part of a Buyagift experience, bought by our daughter for our 50th wedding anniversary. Starters were good, but we both ordered steak, one well done, with chips & one (mine) medium, with sautéed potatoes. The one with chips was given to me, so we swapped our plates, assuming that we then had the correct dishes. Not so - when I cut into me steak it was tough, well done & almost cold. It was taken away, & replaced, but it appears that my husband had actually received the medium done steak, with my potatoes! I don't know what the chef regards as saute, but new potatoes, cut in half & deep fried is not how I know it!! They should be sliced & fried quickly in a little oil. All this having been said, the food was generally good, with desserts being really tasty. Breakfast was excellent, with a varied menu to choose from.

Was a bit disappointed, bought my dad here for Father's Day as was recommended here by someone and didn't expect the old hotel breakfast room decor. Literally feel like we've just come in for breakfast. I had the roast beef, but in actual fact it was more roast fat. Couldn't eat it, only the veg and trimmings (which was a pathetic potion to share between two may I add). Waitress came and cleared our starters whilst my dad was still eating. Rude! Then all you could hear throughout the meal was clanging of plates and cuterly being dropped. It was very irritating. Overall very disappointed. It would have been better to sit in the bar and eat instead of the dingy canteen.

Nice space between tables and staff very attentive. Great location in nice weather has you can have a drink by the river beforehand. Loved the scotch egg with homemade brown sauce.

Very friendly staff and good service, sadly the food was way below the usual standard we have experienced during previous visits to The Queen's Head.

Thoroughly enjoyable. The staff were friendly and helpful. My wife and I had Sunday lunch which was extremely good. Ample portions on both main meal and dessert. Would definitely go back there again. Can thoroughly recommend this location.
