Our overall experience was brilliant! The food was amazing and you could see how much work had gone into it. Every dish had a real surprise element to it. My only issue with the evening was the wine. Me and my wife felt that for the extra cost of the wine flight, not all the wine complimented the food. Some of the wine was too heavy and it masked the flavour of the dish. The staff were really friendly and professional and made you feel at ease from the moment we walked through the door.

Amazing food, great service, relaxing atmosphere without any pressure to vacate table etc. Had orange panna cotta for dessert which was truly excellent.

WOW!! This was our third visit and again from the moment we walked in the service was amazing. The food was as it always is ‘unbelievable’ with the Burnt English Custard Egg Surprise the highlight, you can clearly see why this dish scored 10/10/10 (worth a visit for this dessert alone) All courses came out with a full explanation from very knowledgable staff, and with waiting times between courses consistent (10 mins approx) this made the evening flow almost as well as the wine, It’s the little things that count for me, on returning from the toilet my napkin was folded back up and placed on my seat! My wine was topped up from my bottle when it was needed (my glass was never empty) and just the general polite conversation from all staff who clearly enjoy their work as this shows in abundance in their attitude towards customers. Service 10/10 Food 10/10 Location 10/10 We’ve eaten at many Michelin star restaurants and this is the one we keep returning to, they’re all great but Purnell’s is in my opinion the best. Fine dining at its very best!!!!

Fantastic experience celebrating my husband's 65th birthday with our daughter and fiance (who also got engaged at Purnells). Staff attentive and friendly, 5 course lunch amazing - we all had our favourite dish but everyone adored the bread. Icing on the cake was Glynn coming to the table to wish my husband a happy birthday as he's a huge fan. Nice touch with the happy birthday cake. Our second visit and will certainly go again.

We had a lovely lunch here. The 5 course tasting menu was cracking value, with new, interesting flavour combos. The cod with cauliflower was a revelation. Very high end wine list which would have really hiked the price had we been drinking. There was a young lad at the next door table with his mum and dad who wanted to meet Glynn (Purnell) and he was welcomed and fussed over in the kitchen for at least 15mins which obviously made his week! and really impressed us! The staff were attentive, though the M'd needs a larger jacket. My lunch partner dissed the decor -it was a bit worn!
