Situated in a Victorian redbrick building, Michelin-starred Purnell’s restaurant in Birmingham is a chic and contemporary dining space. Seamlessly fusing the heritage of its residence with modern accents in the dining room, the stylish restaurant space is flooded with natural light from the classically-Victorian arched windows.
With the living room restaurant space dedicated to sociable and relaxed fine dining, the Purnell’s menu offers a variety of inventive ‘Brummie tapas’ dishes, ideal for sharing. Sample dishes include spiced potato and lime croquettes with duck egg mayonnaise, and neck of lamb with capers and basil emulsion.
A selection of tasting menus are also available at the West Midlands restaurant, offering dishes such as tail fillet of beef rolled in liquorice charcoal, and waffles with foie gras butter with crispy chicken skin. A classic 3 or 5-course lunch menu offers contemporary British cuisine, such as duck breast with apple and celeriac puree, and roasted plaice with confit tomato and pickled shallots.
Offering informal fine dining and Michelin-starred cuisine, Purnell’s in Birmingham sits 6 minutes’ walk from Snow Hill train station. Diners are required to be of smart casual attire.

Superb lunch Purnell's pescatarian journey: recommend the charcoal potatoes, chickpea fritter, 'fish finger', haddock and egg, tomato dashi and the burnt egg custard as our highlights. We will return, and indeed have done so twice already.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. Food is top class and the service from the moment we walked in was attentive, friendly and offered with a passion from a team who clearly love what they do.

We recently attended Purnell's to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday. We chose the Summer menu with accompanying wine flight. The gifts from the kitchen were an absolute delight and really set the standard. Personally, the stand out dishes for me was the firstly the heritage tomatoes with a dashi that really packed a punch and the duck breast, a simply stunning dish. The front of house team were exceptional, balancing discretion with attentiveness perfectly. Thank you all for an experience that will live long in the memory.

Couldn't fault the tasting menu - food was amazing; truly some of the best we've ever had in our lives! Could not pick a favourite as they were all so good.

This last visit was one of many we have been for both dinner and lunch and had the taster menus. The food is amazing - they say you eat with your eyes and the presentation of the food does just that. We cannot pick out one favourite dish as we loved them all. It is a truly wonderful dining experience here. The staff are plentiful - all friendly and attentive a credit to the restaurant, no wonder people return.

As soon as you enter your made to feel special, surroundings to my taste, warmth with a touch of industrial.
The food was fabulous, as it was lunchtime we went for the three course and a bottle of Italian wine, each course was a mix of taste and texture (melting in your mouth) and bubbles on your tongue. Oh and the white wine vinegar jelly to die for with crab and apple.
To be honest it was all delicious.
The service provided by the staff was faultless, professional but friendly too.
For those who think you don’t get a lot in a fine dining experience, we didn’t have breakfast, however we couldn’t eat for the rest of the day, just a light supper before bed.
What would have put the top on it would have been to see Glynn himself, but a super gift from our children, for our birthdays.
Well done Purnell’s ??????????????
