Situated in a Victorian redbrick building, Michelin-starred Purnell’s restaurant in Birmingham is a chic and contemporary dining space. Seamlessly fusing the heritage of its residence with modern accents in the dining room, the stylish restaurant space is flooded with natural light from the classically-Victorian arched windows.

With the living room restaurant space dedicated to sociable and relaxed fine dining, the Purnell’s menu offers a variety of inventive ‘Brummie tapas’ dishes, ideal for sharing. Sample dishes include spiced potato and lime croquettes with duck egg mayonnaise, and neck of lamb with capers and basil emulsion.

A selection of tasting menus are also available at the West Midlands restaurant, offering dishes such as tail fillet of beef rolled in liquorice charcoal, and waffles with foie gras butter with crispy chicken skin. A classic 3 or 5-course lunch menu offers contemporary British cuisine, such as duck breast with apple and celeriac puree, and roasted plaice with confit tomato and pickled shallots.

Offering informal fine dining and Michelin-starred cuisine, Purnell’s in Birmingham sits 6 minutes’ walk from Snow Hill train station. Diners are required to be of smart casual attire.

Absolutely amazing, food was fantastic staff very attentive. Although the atmosphere was a bit lacking, very, very quiet. You could literally hear a pin drop.

Had the fabulous Spring menu at Purnells. 9 courses and a real treat for the taste buds and senses. The Cumbrian beef dish was too salty and heavily smoked for my taste but stand out dishes for me included textures of beetroot, Orkney scallop and burnt English custard egg. Fantastic service from all.

a 5 course lunch menu a present from our daughter. Extremely quiet only one other couple dining but service and the staff were excellent. Finishing touches as in finer details of wiping table between each course the quality of the tableware etc all made the experience special. Finally the food , each course was outstanding in taste and presentation, the drinks over priced as always in these top rest restaurants except for an exceptional desert wine which was reasonably priced and well matched to our dessert.

We had The Journey menu this time and I think it was our most enjoyable yet! Each course was excellent. My sister loves chocolate so for her the desert was the best. I loved the lamb and it is something I never chose to eat when dining out. Each member of the team in the restaurant knows their job and carry it out to the highest standard. Again Wine chosen for us was great but we expect that now! :)
