My husband and I had a superb Sunday lunch at Porro. The staff were helpful and pleasant. I had the best roast dinner for a long time with succulent Welsh lamb and loads of different vegetables. My husband enjoyed his beef just as much. The restaurant had a good feel to it and seemed popular.

Creating a wonderful fusion of modern British dishes with strong Italian influences, Porro is a sleek, contemporary setting that celebrates regional ingredients and social dining.

The Porro menu brings together Italian staples with regional recipes – favourites include roasted belly pork with fennel and apple purée, roast squash and salsa verde, and pasta recipes like pappardelle with braised Welsh ox cheek and parmesan. There are dishes perfect for sharing, like Monmouthshire lamb and Herefordshire pork meatball, as well as roasted artichoke, speck de montagne and anchovy pizza.

Carefully sourced wines feature at Porro Cardiff, as well as a selection of beers and ciders. On the Porro dessert menu, there are irresistible sweets like almond, lemon and orange cake with mascarpone, and dark chocolate torte with salted chocolate sauce and hazelnut ice cream.

Offering a perfect blend of British and Mediterranean flavours, Porro sits on the bustling Llandaff High Street, 4 minutes' drive from Fairwater Rail Station.

We had been to Porro. Endorse, and hadn't ever been disappointed. The staff are friendly, and attentive, and most importantly know about the food they are serving.
It was quite quiet when we visited, just a few tables occupied. We ordered drinks, studied the varied menu, and made our choices.
To start, Frito Misto, a huge portion of baby deep fried fish, with a humours dip, it was delicious. Also a starter that was like a chorizo paste on sour dough( it was called something far more sofisticated, but I can't remember ) this was also a generous size, and tangy, spicy, wonderful.
For main we chose, chicken with mushrooms and spinach, served with a large bowl of the most gorgeous crunchy chips - yum ! Also pasta, with slow coooked on cheek, unctuous , tender, served in a delicious sauce.

The food was as always beautifully cooked, and presented. The portions are large, and maybe we should have thought about this before hand as one of couldn't eat it all.

If there was any criticism it would be that the main course came out as soon as the starters were finished, too soon. That was perhaps because the restaurant was not very busy, and the chef was on a roll.

Great weeknight meal including the most incredible grilled squid I've ever eaten. Portions are extremely generous and the staff very friendly.

Nice welcoming restaurant with friendly staff,
Superb food, Squid starter with fresh side salad & Aioli was enjoyable but the Cod with mash had the taste buds dancing!

Only complaint is the choice of a beer was limited & £5 for a bottle of ale excessive!

    Loved the decor
    Italian sausage starter delicious
Booking on line easy and efficient
Front of house staff excellent (attentive but relaxed)
We were regulars at cibo so great to have an alternative.

Porro was excellent. All 3 courses of the Sunday lunch were delicious (and a bargain at £20). Perfectly cooked asparagus and egg to start. The Sunday roast really felt like Mum's home-made roast (home-made roasts are the best, of course). And the pana cotta to finish was superb. The cider was also perfect for a summer's day. The staff were very friendly and helpful (they offered more gravy if you wanted and, as it was proper gravy, why would you say no). It was a hot day, but the restaurant was fresh and airy. The restaurant also has full wheelchair access and toilets.

We had a very enjoyable meal here. My Australian guests on their first visit to Wales were suitably impressed by the restaurant meal and Llandaff.

The servers were attentive to our needs. The restaurant was quiet due to time of day, but we felt comfortable and welcome .
