Following the success of the acclaimed POLPO in Soho, Russell Norman brings POLPO to Notting Hill. Signature Venetian small plates are served in a laidback setting, amidst exposed brickwork and tin ceilings.

Reminiscent of Venice’s charming backstreet restaurants, POLPO specialises in Venetian small plates and spritz. Hand-rolled meatballs, freshly-stretched pizzettes and fresh colourful salads head up the menu. The main menu varies with the seasons and favourite creations include cuttlefish & squid ink risotto with gremolata, roast stuffed pork, lentils & radicchio and crab & chilli linguine. For dessert, choose from a variety of classics, such as tiramisu or Venetian ricotta doughnuts with cinnamon sugar.

Bringing Italian charm to London, POLPO Notting Hill is a 2-minute walk from Notting Hill Gate Tube Station.

We had the meatballs, chilli and crab linguine, gnocchi, egg, spinach and parmaesan pizzette, aubergine, potato crochettes. All were good sixes and very tasty. We had the hot chocolate pudding with vanilla ice cream and raspberry for dessert. One of the best desserts I've had and my date echoed this!

Really good ambience and atmosphere and liked the look of the décor.

I will let you off the fact that you tried to get me to pay twice...it was really nice but not that nice!!

We order four plates, two dessert and coffee.
Time from ordering to receiving the food was good.
quality of the food was bad. None of the savory dishes have any salt at all! Had to use the salt and pepper shakers continuously to have some seasoning.
Tagliatelle and gnocchi were otherwise good flavour after adding salt, but the risotto and scallops weren't, the risotto was absolutely bland, little more than boiled rice and no seasoning. The scallop itself was good, but the pumpkin sauce was not seasoned and had some pumpkin cubes that were very cold.
Desserts of tiramisu, Panna cotta and coffee were very good.
Service was mixed, woman waiter was kind and efficient, but the male waiter was not, I had to ask for my coffee twice and I didn't get what I asked for, only close enough. The male waiter seem to try to avoid eye contact when passing in front of me while I was asking him for help.
    Toilets were clean and big.

Both of us had been to Polpo before but were slightly underwhelmed by the food this time - the lamb meatballs were tepid and the sardines were covered in a heap of onions that put my friend off even touching the dish! This was a shame as the sardine itself was delicious.
The crab linguine and beef shin arancini were delicious but as the food came out literally all at the same time by the time we got around to the scallop this was also cold (again shame as flavours were great).
Service was friendly and the freshly squeezed OJ was great.

I went with my friend who is aged 91 to lunch. We shared the Venetian Snacks platter with an order
of chick pea and veg, listed as ' meat balls'.The food was delicious, the servers were all very helpful.we would have appreciated a sharper knife to cut the bread in the bruschetta, but a waitress saw us struggling and, unasked, found another knife.

Our only complaint was that the music system was too loud for comfort and made communication difficultNeither I nor my guest have hearing problems, but the combination of wood floors, high ceilings
and loud music made it hard to talk.
I must say that i did not ask the staff to turn it down but I did ask the woman who seated us to put us at a table away from the noise, but I think the noise was fairly evenly spread over the whole restaurant. There is an argument that music is not needed in restaurants at all - if music is used it should be at a low level of sound.

Our second time there and the food was great. Wasn't so impressed with the dessert but not having a sweet tooth makes me not the best judge. Will definitely go back!
