I am a regular visitor to Polpo in Soho - I love the atmosphere and food and the staff there are very friendly and efficient. This was my first visit to the Covent Garden one. We were early as it was for a pre-theatre meal and the place was nicely busy. We ordered 2 pizzettes, lamb meatballs, chicken and mushroom tagliatelle and zucchini salad. Everything apart from the pizzettes arrived fairly promptly and was tasty but none of it was hot enough. The meatballs were cold and the tagliatelle luke warm. Had I been on my own I would have sent them back, but I did not complain as I did not want to make a fuss and spoil the evening. I did notice that food was sitting waiting on the kitchen counter for longer than it should have been so perhaps the place was short-staffed? I did have to ask where our pizzettes were as they came long after we had finished everything else. That said, it has not put me off. I love the campari cocktails, the food and the ambience - and love the truffle crisps!

We had a lovely evening at Polpo. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was lovely.

You go to Polpo for the food. We spent £25 per person and had a lunch with old friends. We were four people and so just ordered a variety to share. The meatballs were bland especially the tomato sauce, the fried olives were salty as they had ancivoy mixed into the breadcumb coating, Croquettes and arancini were our best choices. the chickpea balls lacked seasoning. If a place like this leads on pizzette than in my view its a dissapointment - there is plenty of good pizza in London. Overall its a food quality was only above average, its pricey for the quality and the selection was authentic. However, the taste didnt live up to the marketing hype in my view.

Wonderful small Italian tapas. Beef shin ragu with rigatoni was especially lovely.

Pleasant friendly service, but I am afraid disappointing. No where near as good at the Polpo in Bristol

Great atmosphere, friendly staff. Food on the whole pretty good. However we were very disappointed with the scallops which were very bland. That said, would definitely visit again.

Perfect for lunch. Decor is simple, but nothing wrong with that. Our waitress was attentive and helpful. The menu was varied and interesting. The rainbow chard with chilli and garlic was one of our favourites, but all our choices were excellent. The only criticism from one of our party was the choice of beers - there was no choice, only one beer, which wasn't great according to him.
