A bijou hideaway in the heart of the city, POLPO Brighton is a laidback, rustic Italian restaurant. Open frontage in warmer weather and pavement tables evoke a continental feel, while the interior has a trendy, reclaimed feel.

Reminiscent of Venice’s charming backstreet restaurants, POLPO specialises in Venetian small plates and spritz. Hand-rolled meatballs, freshly-stretched pizzettes and fresh colourful salads head up the menu. The main menu varies with the seasons and favourite creations include cuttlefish & squid ink risotto with gremolata, roast stuffed pork, lentils & radicchio and crab & chilli linguine. For dessert, choose from a variety of classics, such as tiramisu or Venetian ricotta doughnuts with cinnamon sugar.

In addition to the main menu, POLPO Brighton offers a great value all-day set menu, and daily changing specials to look out for on the blackboard. Aperitivo Time takes place every day from 4-6pm. Sip on a refreshing Spritz and enjoy some delicious bar snacks like black truffle crisps & Bella di Cerignola olives, for just £5.

A favourite neighbourhood restaurant, the Brighton POLPO is an 11-minute walk from Brighton Train Station.

First visit and will certainly go again. Excellent, friendly service. Loved the 'small plate' idea: the crisp pizettas were particularly appreciated.

Lovely food (perhaps a tad too much chilli in the crab linguine?), Excellent service, very reasonable prices (although a bottle of wine under £20, especially at lunchtime, would be welcome)

We love Octopus, and the two octopus dishes were great. We enjoyed very much.

We had a lovely evening, good food and good wine. Eating Italian as "tapas", perfect taster of several things.
Only problem was one of us were a Vegan, and it wasn't easy for her to figure out what she could eat. May I suggest that for a place like Brighton where there are a lot of vegans, set up a little suggestion of alternative dishes, e.g. some of the normal but with a different dressing to avoid e.g. "pesto" or similar parts of the dish..
