Our first experience but definitely not the last. A wonderful evening with excellent service and delicious food. Only slight issue was the wine list, ridiculous prices, bring the prices down and sell more!

A bijou hideaway in the heart of the city, POLPO Brighton is a laidback, rustic Italian restaurant. Open frontage in warmer weather and pavement tables evoke a continental feel, while the interior has a trendy, reclaimed feel.

Reminiscent of Venice’s charming backstreet restaurants, POLPO specialises in Venetian small plates and spritz. Hand-rolled meatballs, freshly-stretched pizzettes and fresh colourful salads head up the menu. The main menu varies with the seasons and favourite creations include cuttlefish & squid ink risotto with gremolata, roast stuffed pork, lentils & radicchio and crab & chilli linguine. For dessert, choose from a variety of classics, such as tiramisu or Venetian ricotta doughnuts with cinnamon sugar.

In addition to the main menu, POLPO Brighton offers a great value all-day set menu, and daily changing specials to look out for on the blackboard. Aperitivo Time takes place every day from 4-6pm. Sip on a refreshing Spritz and enjoy some delicious bar snacks like black truffle crisps & Bella di Cerignola olives, for just £5.

A favourite neighbourhood restaurant, the Brighton POLPO is an 11-minute walk from Brighton Train Station.

We always get a warm welcome when we return to Polpo. We took friends who had not been before and they thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We like the buzzy ambiance and rustic décor. The staff are very helpful explaining menu items. And the food is always fresh, imaginative and perfect for sharing. We each ordered two plates including mackerel, scallops, gnocchi, pizzette, lamb meatballs, pork & beef meatballs, chicken linguine - so many exciting flavours! A great lunch.

Great servir and settings. Food was nice but we thought it was overpriced for what it was. The wine specially is very expensive.

Initially, the service was slow but it improved. The food isn't bad but it is not authentic Venetian food. For example, the menu features arancini which is a Sicilian speciality. They overcharged us for the wine but amended the bill when asked to do so.

Excellent service, cosy environment and tasty food. Especially enjoyed the broccolini pizzette and the cauliflower dish. Recommended.

From the delicious sloe negroni, to the tasty deep fried olives, followed by delicious fritto misto, arancini and pizzette, everything was so good. Only the crab linguine was mildly disappointing. Service was quick, with good levels of attentiveness without being intrusive. It is quite noisy, with the tables being so close to each other. The 20% off January offer made it particularly good value.

Fantastic service, as always, great food, great drink. Staff are lovely, make us feel special every time we pop in.

The food was excellent and our waiter was efficient. What was less helpful was the pfaff around whether we could have the January discount and the manager, who was too busy to come and talk to us. We were eventually offered a discount on the food but this was only offered when we said that all five of us would be putting a review on trip advisor!
