Restaurant description

Elevated above the bustle of Canary Wharf, Plateau offers elegant French bistro dishes on the 4th floor of the glitzy Canada Place building. An open kitchen creates a buzz, and sparkling glass walls surrounded this chic, Manhattan-style space.

Sourcing from fine suppliers dotted across the British Isles, savour Plateau restaurant favourites like honey-spiced duck with port-marinated radish, or warm violet artichokes with wild mushrooms and baby leeks. For something sweet at Plateau Canary Wharf, enjoy hand-rolled butterscotch truffles, crème brulee with apricot sorbet, or chocolate delice with coconut ice cream.

Carefully compiled by the in-house sommelier, a 250-strong wine list at Plateau East London brings together bottles from across the globe, as well as a range of superb value guest wines.

Offering a dramatic setting and flawless cuisine with a distinct urban edge, Plateau restaurant exhibits artwork from local galleries. Canary Wharf Tube Station is a 3-minute walk away.

I went there to try the Menu du jour. Every plate was very tasty and good. I am fully satisfied for the experience I had there at Plateau. The service as well, it was very professional. One thing, to be improved, according to me, that could have make the whole a 5 star rating, is the ambience, a bit of soft music would have been great.

Unique 4th floor location with stunning views of Docklands development. Attentive service albeit a little slow despite the fact that the restaurant was half empty. Competitive and tasty fixed price lunch menu but without customary "free" initial glass of Prosecco. Above average priced wine list.

Overall the food was very good however, with a six course taster menu I expect the amuse bouch to be a free extra course and not make up the six. I was even more dissatisfied when the sorbet turned out to be a course also. What looked to be good value turned out to be expensive for what it was.

For various reasons I have not been able to visit Plateau for over a year. Last night I realised what I had missed. The atmosphere is lively but We could still hear our own conversation without shouting. The food was impeccable- try the venison carpaccio- but what always makes this restaurant special is the staff. From being greeted at the entrance to the waiters knowledgeably helping and advising the staff make this venue very special. All are worthy of praise but this time a particular thanks to Daniel for going to the trouble of printing me pictures of the cheeses I had for later reference. I am also amazed how the staff manage to be so attentive to all guests but still have time to make conversation with us. You are treated the same whether dressed up or casual. What a treat, won't leave the next time so long in coming!
