Restaurant description

Found within a London hotel that dates back as far as 1836, Petrichor at The Cavendish London serves contemporary British cuisine and a great value pre-theatre menu. Overlooking the exclusive boutiques and galleries of Jermyn Street, St. James's and Piccadilly, Petrichor is found on the 1st floor of the Cavendish London hotel.

Championing a commitment to serving premium ingredients, Petrichor London sources from local farmers and producers to create monthly-changing menus of delicious modern British cuisine. Head Chef Nitin Pawar blends hearty, home-cooked flavours and unique culinary flair, with Petrichor menu favourites including rich pigeon and venison terrine with elderflower jelly, or sustainable fish pie with smoked cod loin, shrimps and boiled quail eggs.

Rich, autumnal flavours for dessert include panettone bread & butter pudding with drambuie custard, or mulled wine-poached pear with cinnamon mascarpone. An accomplished wine list at Petrichor Green Park showcases fine vintages, alongside an exclusive selection from the Chapel Down winery in Kent.

Capturing the essence of nature through the setting and cuisine, Petrichor restaurant is set in the deluxe surroundings of The Cavendish Hotel. Green Park Tube Station is a 5-minute walk away.

An absolutely excellent Champagne Afternoon Tea. The staff were friendly and attentive. The Champagne was truly free flowing. We were celebrating a birthday and the staff made a special effort which was very much appreciated. The food was delicious and the whole experience was wonderful. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Very comfortable restaurant. Noise levels low. Spacious. Carpeted. Waiters very friendly and efficient - keeping drinking water and wine glasses topped up and offering more bread if needed. Not rushed - and no extended delays for service. Food very tasty and well-cooked. Portion sizes not huge but just right size for us - three course set menu had enough choices to meet our needs (i.e. a fish, meat and vegetable choice for each of starter and main)

Lovely afternoon tea , excellent service. Why so many people were in fortnum and masons for their over priced afternoon tea is a mystery!

My friend and I dined at Petrichor at the Cavendish in St James's, London, last Saturday and we had a fabulous experience. We chose the special offer set menu which was outstanding value - we had 3 delicious courses and bottomless prosecco which truly was bottomless! The staff were delightful - very courteous and friendly and most helpful. The ambience was cosy and welcoming and it was such a treat not to be hurried out of the restaurant within the usual 2 hours. A lovely relaxing evening - thanks to all those that looked after us. My friend and I agreed that we will most definitely return.
