The selection of food was varied, very tasty & unusual. There was a good choice of teas & coffees with as much as we wanted.

    Food was excellent
    Sandwiches lovely
    Cakes and scones divine
Plenty to eat and drink coffee was just right.
We took cakes home in 2 lovely little boxes .
The harp and piano was played beautifully.
Only downside was being left to wait for 10/15 mins but a quick phone call soon got it sorted.
Not the cheapest but worth every penny.

After requesting the vegan afternoon tea, I was very disappointed with how some members of staff behaved after the chef accidentally gave me clotted cream (and I'm severely allergic to dairy). After I notified them about the error, they avoided me and didn't even ask if I was ok. I wish the printed vegan menu matched what I was served on the day as it would have prevented me having an allergic reaction. My friend who had the traditional afternoon tea was very pleased with the food but agreed the staff shouldn't have avoided me.

Very cozy. Great sandwiches and cakes, just a little too much white chocolate.

Standard of afternoon tea was very high especially the pastry , cakes & scones. The ambience was just perfect & the staff were amazing.

We booked afternon tea..a really elegant setting & spacious layout.a mix of low lounge chairs with coffee tables or traditional height table & chair - your preference might depend on accessability (my guest was my mother who prefers to eat at a "proper" table!).Very welcoming staff who worked hard to please all the guests.i have a healthy appetite & was definately sated by the quantity of the food.quality was of the high standard you would expect from the Caledonians as a 5* hotel. A great selection of savoury & sweet options, with a pause then 2 tiers of the cakestand get replenished! Standout pastries were the scones and the Strawberry mousse tart.Really exquisite pastry skills on all offerings i hasten to add.we have now tried afternon tea in a few establishments in edinburgh - yes this was the dearest but i felt it delivered fully on both quality & quanity so i do think it was good value.we both said we would most definately do it again.

Recently visited for Afternoon Tea with friends at the Peacock Alley.

I was a bit disappointed there was no one at the door to greet us and point us into the direction of our table. It took some time to flag down a waiter, who then showed us to our table which hadn't been set yet.
The Tea selection was great, many Teas to choose from. When the Food came, there was a lot of it. Some of the bread was a bit stale, but over all the food was nice. The service however, was a bit lacking. We had to flag down a waiter to have our tea refreshed and then she got so overexcited and started to clear the plates while two in the party were still eating.
We then received our scones and even more cakes. But once that had been done our waiter was nowhere to be found. We again had to flag down someone for fresh tea, after which we were again left to our own devices until we asked for the bill and had to ask for the cakes to be boxed up.
The Staff just didn't seem very attentive, maybe there was too much to do and not enough of them, but still. The Service was a bit disappointing, but the tea and food were nice.

My friends and I had a delicious Afternoon Tea. The variety of sandwiches/cakes/scones was excellent. The service was impeccable. The waitresses were most attentive and kept refilling our teapots.
