Boasting 2 AA Rosettes, Park House Cardiff is a restaurant and wine bar with a modern British menu. The contemporary creativity of the food contrasts with the grand Victorian property in which the restaurant is housed.

The Park House menu focuses on using local Welsh ingredients to produce creative, British-influenced dishes. Start with parsnip and coco bean salad with pickled chanterelles and hazelnuts, or the rich chicken velouté with brioche and cep butter. Main dishes include the sumptuous venison with juniper berries, sweet and sour parsnips, foie gras caramel and roast pear, or the grouse with curly kale, game crouton and parsnip purée. Fresh fish dishes are also on offer, like Cornish turbot with Wiltshire truffle risotto, wild mushroom and truffle broth, and Parisienne vegetables.

Park House restaurant also serves a lavish afternoon tea of speciality sandwiches, hand-made cakes and pastries, and freshly baked scones. Added glamour can be added by choosing one of the champagne or cocktail afternoon tea options. An extensive wine, whisky and cocktail list complements any meal at Park House.

Close to the iconic castle, Park House is an 8-minute walk from Cardiff Queen Street Train Station.

Outstanding taster menu - every course was 10/10. It was the best food we have ever eaten. Presentation was excellent and the tastes were sublime.
The chef took the time to come out to our table and explain one of the dishes which was a really nice touch.
The serving staff were also fantastic with a wealth of knowledge not only about the food, but also the wine to go with each dish. They really brought the experience to life!
My son and I had a speciality beer before our meal and again they were perfect. We will definitely be returning and cannot recommend the park house highly enough.

Great 5 course tasting menu and ambience

This was the fourth time I had been to the Park House and possibly the last. We had the 5 course taster menu, which was average at best. It seemed to me that there was a lack of meat in the five courses and nothing special (a square inch of Salmon on one course and chicken on another course). At 9.30pm we had been sat for one and a half hours, we had two course by this time, which consisted of about two mouthfuls per course. I personally was starving and was disappointed to not have been offered any bread. About 10pm, two hours in, the waiter asked if we wanted some more bread, I stated "we haven't been offered any at all" to a muted response. At this point our waiter who was the senior person on shift went missing and the next two courses were delivered by someone else that we had not seen during our first two hours at the restaurant. We were not offered any more bread and we had to ask for butter. The food itself was ok, it did seem to me that the business was economising and not offering value for money. We were not sat in the main dining room but an offshoot of the dining room with the dining room cordoned off by the cheese trolly, which made the restaurant look cheap like we were in the annexe and not allowed in to the party (although there was no party as the dining room was empty). My feelings were the staff were trying to save themselves time in cleaning at the end of the night. I was disappointed with the service, mainly due to not being offered bread, having to ask for butter, despite leaving my empty beer bottle at the end of the table three times, I had to finally request another drink three times. There were only five tables being served in the nearly three hours we were there, so the staff were hardly rushed off their feet. Im my three previous bookings with a different chef I have left every time feeling fulfilled and reflected on the richness of the food, this time i was still hungry when i left and felt the food was not rich in any sense.

The food was good, but the timing was really bad. You had a wedding party and it is my perception that they took precedence over my 25th anniversary. We arrived between 7.30 and 8.00. Our order was taken at 8.30 but our food did not arrive until 10. The friends with me were enjoying themselves and we had good wine. But I am not sure if I would come back without knowing if there was a big party down stairs. Real shame as I have been coming for a long time.

A delicious experience, not just an evening dinner, but an event to remember. Excellent food and service and quality wines.

Amazing food at Park House -I went for the 5-course tasting menu with wine and was suitably impressed. Would definitely recommend.

We had the tasting lunch which was excellent and very good value with matched wines (almost too good). There were just a few annoying quibbles. We were "offered" an English sparkling wine as an aperitif - when we asked for the bill, I was annoyed to find that we had been charged £12 a glass for this (with four of us dining, I'd have ordered a bottle had I known - the wine list has a 2009 Nyetimber at £55 a bottle, only £7 more than we paid for 4x100ml glasses. In retrospect, I would have preferred it if we had been advised to order a whole bottle given the difference in price). How this would be billed wasn't made clear at the time we ordered, particularly as we were not given a wine list to look at first. We were only given one menu summarising the set lunch and matched wines between the four of us. The food was excellent and I would have happily paid more than the £40 for the tasting lunch rather than feeling that the restaurant were trying to make up for this with what I perceived to be a disingenuous sell of an aperitif. The matched wines were great (as was the extra Nyetimber) and I've only rated the drinks as 3/5 due to the lack of clarity over the extra sparkler. Other than these quibbles, we had a great lunch and I'm sure we will go back soon. If we go back for a set menu, I will insist on looking at the wine list before ordering...

We were slightly disappointed with our experience here after reading so many positive reviews...the food was decent however definitely not worth the money. Many dishes were so simple and small. We were still starving afterwards, which was shocking after a 8-course meal...

Everything was fantastic with one exception, there was no music in the restaurant and as we were one of the first to arrive for lunch there was no atmosphere and at times it was slightly awkward. It wasn’t so bad as more people arrived for lunch but would still massively benefit from some music
