Loved the atmosphere and the fact we weren't rushed.

Lovely hotel and beautifully decorated for the season. Friendly welcome from doorman and the lady that seated us was also very welcoming and attentive. The afternoon tea was very good. My daughter and I throughly enjoyed ourselves.

We thought the Christmas decor was marvellous. The service of the waiter was excellent. We enjoyed our afternoon tea very much. My husband and I have visited and enjoyed the afternoon tea experience three times. This last time we were treating our niece for her 18th Birthday treat and she was very happy with the experience.

The food was lovely but unfortunately the service let us down. My friend asked for a beer menu which never showed, another friend had to ask for her coffee three times and there was a large delay in when the food was brought out, so some confusion as to who had what. We decided to reflect this in the service charge (opted to pay £3 less) and I was then chased at the front door for the remaining money. It was a little disappointing and for my 30th birthday celebration, a little sad. Considering the cost and venue, I expected more

Good. We mentioned that it was my mum's birthday at the booking but we did not receive any special treatment. Other tables did receive a little treatment instead.

Beautiful Art Deco interior. Friendly staff but some details made the Afternoon Tea not as we wished. The plates for our sandwiches were taken away without the waiter asking if we would like more sandwiches. I wanted more sandwiches, but had already started on the scones when we were offered more. The tea was brought to us about 10-15 minutes before the sandwiches, so it was cold when the meal arrived. I would have liked the sandwiches to be more traditional. I want the classical finger sandwiches for my Afternoon Tea. I will not recommend this place for Afternoon Tea.

Was not what we expected from pictures and reviews unfortunately. We booked a 6 pm sitting..the harpist was packing up! There was no atmosphere some background music which you would find anywhere. The area where we sat we felt was an extention of the foyer not a designated for afternoon tea. The service was half and half, we had to wait then approach someone with details of our booking. The gentleman who served us was polite and informative. General lighting was dim. We ordered 2 vegetarian & 1 normal afternoon tea. My friend who isn’t vegetarian but ordered a vegetarian tea informed me the next day (as not to upset me) that she had not being given the vegetarian one. A mix up?? Felt for the price was not up to the standards of say Betty’s up North. The scones were lovely but some of the other sweets were too sweet. The savoury part was not that exciting. So sadly overall we were very disappointed given the price. It was meant to be something special and unfortunately it was not. We are normal easy going people but all felt the same.
