Good. We mentioned that it was my mum's birthday at the booking but we did not receive any special treatment. Other tables did receive a little treatment instead.

The food was lovely, the service was not good. After the initial 30 minutes we were completely ignored. So much for free flowing bubbles!! It was definitely not. The table felt like it was a makeshift table and we were not sitting in the main area. Not a good experience for the money that you pay. On top of that I have been charged twice and still have not received the money back. I really should get the money back twice.

Recommend bottomless Champagne. Good service and food average.

Beautiful Art Deco interior. Friendly staff but some details made the Afternoon Tea not as we wished. The plates for our sandwiches were taken away without the waiter asking if we would like more sandwiches. I wanted more sandwiches, but had already started on the scones when we were offered more. The tea was brought to us about 10-15 minutes before the sandwiches, so it was cold when the meal arrived. I would have liked the sandwiches to be more traditional. I want the classical finger sandwiches for my Afternoon Tea. I will not recommend this place for Afternoon Tea.

It was below my expectation in terms of ambience and food. Service was ok.

Was not what we expected from pictures and reviews unfortunately. We booked a 6 pm sitting..the harpist was packing up! There was no atmosphere some background music which you would find anywhere. The area where we sat we felt was an extention of the foyer not a designated for afternoon tea. The service was half and half, we had to wait then approach someone with details of our booking. The gentleman who served us was polite and informative. General lighting was dim. We ordered 2 vegetarian & 1 normal afternoon tea. My friend who isn’t vegetarian but ordered a vegetarian tea informed me the next day (as not to upset me) that she had not being given the vegetarian one. A mix up?? Felt for the price was not up to the standards of say Betty’s up North. The scones were lovely but some of the other sweets were too sweet. The savoury part was not that exciting. So sadly overall we were very disappointed given the price. It was meant to be something special and unfortunately it was not. We are normal easy going people but all felt the same.

I had Afternoon Tea with a friend and it was an absolute delight. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. The choice of tea was extensive and catered for all tastes. The sandwiches and cakes were delicious and the scones and cream were exceptional. Oh and the champagne was a bubbly treat. The Art Deco venue is beautiful and the sound of a Harpist playing as we sat for 3 hours enjoying a relaxing afternoon was sheer bliss.

Went for afternoon tea with my girlfriend. We had made reservations for the "free-flowing champagne" option. The staff seemed extremely stressed and unattentive. The food was excellent but the attitude of some of the staff (not the waitresses but what seemed to be the management) was extremely poor! We had the last service of the day (meaning no other afternoon tea service after ours) and about 30 min prior to when we were meant to leave the table, one from the management asked us if there was anything else we wanted before we finished. By that point we asked for another glass of champagne to which he replied that we we only allowed 2 glasses, despite the fact that we had booked the "free-flowing" option. One thing to note is that the "free-flowing champagne" option is GBP 85/person whilst the standard option is GBP 42/person. I naturally thought there had been a mistake in the booking and therefore expected that we would only be charged GBP 42/person. However, when I got the bill the manager literally hovered over me and felt extremely stressed. Almost giving me no time to review the bill. Long story short, we were charged GBP 85/person for something that should have cost only GBP 42/person. The behaviour of this person (male manager) ruined the entire experience. As I said, the food was excellent, the place is beautiful but this persons behaviour was appaling! I will never return and I will never recommend anyone to go there.

The food and the ambience in the restaurant was lovely. Unfortunately it was let down dramatically by the lack of service.

Afternoon Tea - we were looked after from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, a very nice relaxing afternoon. Tea was superb and we really enjoyed the harp music.
