We had afternoon tea as a birthday present for my Mum. We asked for a quiet table and we were given one. The staff were excellent, attentive and helpful. The tea and food was very good . All round a very pleasant experience for all 4 of us.

A lovely experience for a special day . The harpist added that extra touch. The meal was pricey but we had more than enough food to last all evening

Top class food and service. The little touches made all the difference. Have dined at the Ritz and the Savoy and enjoyed the Balmoral equally !

I came here with my daughter and can only give praise, the surroundings were beautiful, food delicious with plenty there and the staff were extremely attentive and very pleasant.

It was my mums 80th birthday. From the writing on the plate with the cakes to the harp was just amazing couldn't wish for anything better. We had a wonderful time. Thank you so much.

We went for afternoon tea. A special experience. Service was excellent. Charming staff.

Perhaps a bit pricey. Maybe a little less food and reduce the price (although it was great to take some food away home). My wife suggested a 'savoury' tea and a 'sweet' tea each at a lower price. Personally we would have been satisfied with just the savoury food on offer plus sorbet cones at the end.

With 2 friends we have had afternoon tea here for a number of years - like to come back at Christmas time.ar I was unable to attend - husband ill - but my 2 friends thought it was as wonderful as ever.
I haven't been at other times.

A disappointing experience. The savoury plates were average. Some of the sandwiches were definitely of a budget variety unfortunately. Poor quality food used. The scones were lovely and the cakes were nice enough. However the service was absolutely appalling. Slow and shoddy. We were completely forgotten. After an hour we were still sitting with our sandwiches that we had long finished and the waitress asked if were in a hurry?!? I wouldn't recommend and I certainly wouldn't rush back. For the price they charge you could go almost anywhere else in Edinburgh for a better experience. They are riding on their name in my opinion.

Great reception, placed next to 2 businessmen which wasn't the best mix. Food/ drinks/ service was excellent

Excellent customer service. I wasn't overly keen on the dessert tray at the end, and enjoyed my precious visit with the strawberry mousse more, however all excellently presented and was down to personal taste. Would visit again. Our server was lovely!
