Restaurant description

The sister restaurant of highly acclaimed London restaurants Sardine and Rotorino, Palatino presents honest Italian cuisine in an edgy, industrial-style setting. There is an open kitchen for prime views of the chefs in action, and striking sunshine-yellow dining booths.

Compiled by acclaimed proprietor Stevie Parle, the Palatino menu is a masterclass in bold and flavoursome, yet simple Italian dining. Served alongside silky homemade pasta, enjoy the juicy onglet, chicken & pistachio meatballs, hunter-style game, or lobster with fennel & chilli. For dessert at Palatino in restaurant in London indulge in chocolate & hazelnut tartuffi, or zingy lemon, almond & ricotta cake.

Offsetting the exposed pipes, concrete and sharp angles in the dining room, the Palatino kitchen keeps things rustic with its wood burner, stone oven and ever-rolling pasta machine. Creative house cocktails are also served at the bar.

In the heart of London’s original ‘Little Italy’, Palatino in Clerkenwell is a 10-minute walk from Old Street Station.

Palatino has a modern and exciting interior, with romantic lighting. We had booked a set meal, but unfortunately the restuarant forgot our (included) aperitif until I reminded them towards the end of our main course, by which time the moment for a nice bracing spritz had passed. Stil, we had them but an offer of an alternative woud have been nice. The food was extremely good value. The tempura style squash was delicious as was the oxtail ragu. We also enjoyed the bruschetta and the chicken meatballs with polenta. A nice touch is the plentiful supply of free sparkling water.

Excellent food (in spite of the somewhat unknown items on the menu!) and very friendly staff. Thought a charge for a bottle of tap water on top of the 12.5% service charge was a bit surprising.

We go here quite regularly and love the food and the ambience. Great staff complete the dining experience. This time it was for a Christmas lunch. Very tasty and generous portions.

Amazing ravioli, wonderful cod but average bombolotti. Nice desserts and good starters.

Always a pleasure here - we ate at the bar, favourite dish tonnarelli cacio e pepe , and a delicious chicken, ricotta, spinach on toast. Nice carafe of rose. Wonderful friendly service. We love it.

This is a great restaurant. There is always a buzz here and has a great atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful there is an excellent wine list and the food is some of the best italian food I have ever eaten. The caccia e pepe is a dish I could eat every day ! I will be returning on a regular basis.

All the food was delicious, particularly enjoyed the chicory anchovy small plate. Also the free corkage for Italian wine on Monday’s was obviously excellent!!
