Restaurant description

Perched high on the 8th floor of OXO Tower on London’s South Bank, OXO Tower Brasserie affords sensational views across London and the Thames from its 250-foot terrace and dining area. The informal setting has an infectious buzz, with live music from an extensive line-up of jazz musicians adding an extra dimension to the experience.

Head Chef Keir Barry has created a modern Brasserie menu with simple, fresh and comforting dishes which champion the best local and seasonal produce on offer. Tuck into mains such as slow-cooked duck leg, green bean salad and shallot dressing or sea bass with heritage potatoes, wild garlic and pickled salsify. Many meat dishes are cooked over charcoal on the Josper grill, creating a rich barbecue flavour that is perfect for al fresco dining in the summer.

Just a stone’s throw from some of London’s most popular theatres, OXO Tower Brasserie also caters for those looking for a quick meal before or after the show with its pre and post theatre dining menu. An excellent cocktail list accompanies the menu, and the Brasserie even offers a Theatre Not Afternoon Tea, which is a theatrical experience consisting of themed cakes and cocktails. Guests can also enjoy the seasonal Not Afternoon Tea menu, which has several delicious plates to choose from, all paired with a cocktail.

OXO Tower Brasserie in London is just 8 minutes’ walk from Southwark and Waterloo and 10 minutes’ walk from Blackfriars Tube station.

We booked the special offer 3 course menu with a cocktail. All of the dishes were delicious apart from the ravioli which my friend found a bit boring and did look less appertising on the plate than the cod and chicken mains which were very good. Fantastic views.

Disappointing. Nothing that one could reasonably criticise, but all three courses were culinary mediocrity.

Disappointing - two starters were declared unavailable after order had been taken. Two steaks had to be sent back as cooked incorrectly - came well done instead of medium rare. To be fair, steaks were taken off the bill, but we had that awkward situation of half our table finishing their mains before the rest were even served. Not great as a Christmas treat, won't go back.

Having dined here before I was expecting great things but have to say it was a bit lack lustre. The noise levels (being Christmas) were so loud that you can barley hear your party you were dining with the acoustics with so many hard surfaces make for a noisy dining experience. Also menu looked great however butternut squash soup was served luke warm and the chicken dish lacked flavour. I will out it down to being Chrstmas and rushed but all in all it was just ok.......

Very nice food. Its always great food at the Brasserie. It was one week before Christmas so we where assuming it was going to be busy, but perhaps not that busy. I would probably not go to the restaurant again at that time. The table we where given was small, the service was rushed and we didn't receive the attention from the staff that we usually do. They where all running around like mad trying to service everyone and plates where smashing and it all became a bit silly. Its a shame but in a way I understand as I have never seen the restaurant so busy.
