Beautiful restaurant. Excellent service. Great menu and very good value. All food very well presented. Just need to add a side dish to top up the main.

On the ground floor of the Hilton London Bankside Hotel, OXBO Bankside uses local produce to create flavour-packed European dishes. An elegantly styled dining room William Morris-inspired design makes for a uniquely chic dining destination.

Regional produce such as Cornish monkfish cheeks and Borough Market Portobello mushroom is highlighted in dishes such as duck breast with artichoke purée, mandarin jus and sweet potato crisps. Beautifully presented desserts such as blueberry and fudge bread and butter pudding provide a mouth-watering conclusion to the OXBO Bankside menu.

The William Morris-inspired design at OXBO London features bare brickwork and metal screens to produce a cool, urban ambience which is enhanced by the open kitchen. Once a Victorian distillery, the aptly named Distillery bar features aromatically infused cocktails which celebrate the site’s history.

Paul Bates leads the Hilton Bankside’s innovative restaurant which is a 5-minute walk from Southwark Tube station.

The £21 set menu was good value for the dishes and portions we received. Service was good, presumably as it was fairly empty at the time.

This was my second visit. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a good atmosphere (despite it being a hotel restaurant) and the service from the staff is excellent. The tables are spaced generously so one can have a conversation without overhearing or being overheard by those sitting at next table. The staff are really friendly and helpful. My friend and I ate from the set menu. I am a vegetarian and didn't like the vegetarian starter option on the menu. The chef was really accommodating and offered me an alternative starter which I really enjoyed. However I didn't enjoy the main dish or dessert on the menu as much as I had the first time I ate here but it was a different menu (it changes every couple of weeks) so that may have been a personal preference thing. Bread rolls (these were very good) were included and we were offered some more which came at no extra cost. The set menu is reasonable value but does not come with side dishes for which you pay extra. The (basic) side dishes are a bit pricey for what they are. The wine and prosecco are also a quite expensive. The restaurant is an easy 10mins walk from London Bridge station.
