A very warm welcome greeted us and the waiting staff were very attentive, clearing away used plates very efficiently. The food was, as always, superb. Our friend that we treated to a meal here has booked this for himself and some guests later in the week. We will definitely return again soon.

This is the second year we have used this restaurant for a reunion. We were all very pleased with the variety of food however the main Pork dish tasted rather salty and fishy. This was not a problem as there was plenty of other food on offer.

Very pleasant staff that were polite and attentive. Good selection offered on the buffet. We had a very enjoyable lunch. My only criticism is that the chairs that we sat on are incredibly old, heavily stained and going thread bare. It wasn’t a good first impression when reaching our table, especially as it made me question the hygiene of the hotel. Shame, as the rest it was very good and for a hotel with this star rating I wasn’t expecting chairs presented in this way.

Service was very slow, there was a large party who were complaining loudly and persistently and there were only a couple of members of staff to take care of everyone else. Food was average and nothing exciting, the buffet had clearly been sat out for a while and this was right at the start of evening service.

We were queuing for 15 minutes past the supposed opening time (12.30). We were told by a lady we assumed to be the manager, who was busy putting out bottles on the tables, that it would open "when I'm ready". Not a good start. I booked for the a la carte menu on the website as there was a choice between that and the buffet. When we were seated I was told that they only had a buffet. The buffet was nice, especially the starters, but there was always a queue and jostling.

Good range of hot and cold dishes on the buffet. Roast gammon a little disappointing. Vegetables never seem to be the restaurant’s best feature, though they were acceptable. The soft furnishings need refurbishment, as the fabric on the chairs was badly worn, with tears on the seats.

Chose to come here for an anniversary meal and were entirely satisfied with all aspects, food service all made our day

We have booked an annual lunch here over several years as it is a really good location for various family members to get to either by public transport or car. Service was very good and helpful, choice of food suited all tastes, cost of meal very reasonable. Accoustics in the restaurant are good for those hard of hearing and facilities all on one level.

Regularly have lunch here, but the last one was one of the best we have had. Food was excellent and good variation of dishes. Hoping to be back in the middle of February. I do consider that the drinks in the bar before the meal are a tad too expensive.
