Read the latest blog post on The Oscar Wilde Bar at Hotel Café Royal A spell-binding room in one of London’s most famous hotels, The Oscar Wilde Bar at Hotel Café Royal, formerly the iconic Grill Room, offers luxurious French cuisine. Established in 1865, this palatial, historic London spot has been frequented by Oscar Wilde himself, Virginia Woolf and George Bernard Shaw.

Matching the flamboyant Louis XVI surroundings, The Oscar Wilde Bar menu is the epitome of indulgence and elegance. Crafted using world-class ingredients, enjoy dishes like sea scallops with avocado and truffles, Angus beef carpaccio with artichokes, or smooth foie gras terrine with white grape chutney.

Boasting one of the city’s most covetable cellars, The Oscar Wilde Bar in London offers prized vintage wines, high-end cocktails and some of the world’s finest spirits. Elegant accompanying caviar flights can be enjoyed underneath the stunning gold leaf ceiling and surrounded by glittering mirrored walls.

The Oscar Wilde restaurant also stages an entertainment programme throughout the week, with glamorous acts adding to the celebrative and sophisticated ambience. The Oscar Wilde Bar on Regent Street sits just 2 minutes’ walk from Piccadilly Circus Tube Station.

Head to the Hotel Café Royal Green Bar for heritage cocktails and delicious miniature dining plates. Soft green lighting pays tribute to the formidable absinthe fountain, and the curved gun-metal bar offers an ultra-chic selection.

We booked for a 'taster meal', costing about £34 per head, with one glass of champagne included. We imagined that there would be multiple courses, but in the end, we were offered just three courses, each of them a half portion. Wine was extra, and we ended paying about £70 per head. We had been hoping for a real deal, but ended up feeling ripped off!

The food was delicious and very well thought out. Loved the nice touch of having specially created bread to compliment your main course. A really nice touch. Room nneds some art but I think the architecture is amazing. Incredible room and the hotel is stunning. We were taken on a little tour which was lovely. There is a room called the Grill Room that is heaven. Looking forward to having Afternoon Teas in there soon.
