A stunning 2-storey bar and restaurant in the heart of Theatreland in Covent Garden, Opera Tavern specialises in Italian and Spanish-influenced tapas, and has been awarded 2 coveted AA Rosettes. An array of meaty treats are cooked up on the signature charcoal grill, found on the ground floor.

Producing fine-tuned, regularly evolving tapas dishes, the Opera Tavern menu is headed by the likes of mini Ibérico pork, and the foie gras burger. Other perfected signature dishes include octopus carpaccio with squid ink alioli; confit pork belly with cannellini beans and rosemary; crispy hen’s egg with wild mushrooms, and courgette flowers stuffed with goats’ cheese, and drizzled with honey. On Sundays, Opera Tavern in Covent Garden serves a fabulous 3-course paella feast, while the terrific wine list boasts carefully chosen Spanish and Italian wines alongside sherries, cocktails, gins and vermouths.

On the ground floor, exposed brickwork, low lighting and a long bar help create the perfect atmosphere for a pre-theatre meal or drink. Upstairs, the beautifully lit, calm white dining room is perfect for lunch or a leisurely evening meal, with revolving art shows adding interest to the space. The upstairs at Opera Tavern in London can also be rented for private parties.

Opera Tavern is sister restaurant to the much lauded Salt Yard, Ember Yard and Dehesa. Covent Garden and Temple Tube stations are both 5 minutes’ walk away. Please note that only charcuterie, cheese and bar snacks are served from 15:00 - 17:00.

Excellent and slightly different small plates - a fusion of Spanish and Italian. High quality and innovative. A great place for a relaxed lunch, and especially lovely with the sun streaming through the upstairs windows

Wonderful evening with friendly, helpful staff. Our favourite dishes were the Iberico pork and the orange posset.

Delicious as ever - I always love the courgette flowers but every dish was wonderful and we particularly appreciated the very reasonable wines available on Mondays. Waiters were very patient as my dining companion was over 30 mins late.

Five of us had a lovely meal before we saw the ballet at the Opera House. Waiters were very attentive. Tapas pre theatre meal was very good. We were in and out in an hour, didn't feel rushed. Would come again.

Have been here several times and to be honest the food is not as good as it used to be. It now seems a little over priced for what is served. It’s ‘ ok ‘ but nothing more than that when a year or so ago it was really good. It may be our perception, but the portions seem to have got smaller as well. The octopus carpaccio was a case in point. It was also very very noisy upstairs.
