Restaurant description

Ooty Restaurant is currently closed, but Ooty Station (entrance from Dorset street) will be open from Tuesday to Saturday between 11:30 am to 8 pm with a limited menu available.

Presenting South Indian dining at its best, Ooty comprises 3 distinct spaces; an 80-cover fine dining restaurant, 'Ooty Club' - a colonial-style basement bar and 'Ooty station' - an all day casual dining space and cocktail bar. Named after a small hill town in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, its ambience combines British Raj-era decor with a contemporary touch.

The kitchen is headed up by the talented Manmeet Singh Bali, formerly head chef at Michelin-starred London Vineet Bhatia and Rasoi, and in homage to its namesake, the menu offers a modern take on the refined, aromatic cuisine of southern India, with its abundance of spice and pulses, as well as fresh fish and vegetable-based dishes.

Finish with such delectable concoctions like jaggery pineapple bake or apricot cardamom tart.

Ooty is a 6-minute walk from Baker Street Tube Station.

Dishes displayed on a la carte menus are representative of the type of food available at the restaurant.

Light airy modern decor. Delicate flavours and textures in South Indian cuisine - not overpoweringly hot. Beautiful presentation. Attentive service [note: 12.5% mandatory service charge not to be begrudged]. Worth the journey

Ooty was quite quiet on a Tuesday evening, but service was very attentive and experience was pleasant. Highlight was the kid goat starter. Mains ok but nothing special.

Food was great however I don’t think I had a great range for vegetarians. Not that I am, but I brought my dad he would be able to. Drinks are pricey but then again it is a fine dining restaurant. We enjoyed it and would definitely go back
