Afternoon Tea at Number Sixteen hotel is an elegant and luxurious affair. With the option to take tea in any of the public spaces, from the library to the tree-filled hotel garden, there is a setting for every weather and occasion.
The Number Sixteen menu covers classic afternoon tea with the usual sandwiches and scones on offer, as well as some lesser-seen creations, such as arancini, accompanied by sweet options such as Bakewell tart. A lighter option on offer is the ‘fruit tea’, which consists of 5 plates of colourful treats themed around blueberries, orange, lime zest and honey. A gluten-free tea is available on request.
The stunning landscaped garden offers a blissful escape from the bustle of London, whilst the colourful drawing room full of modern, decorative art and bright pink fabrics, is a funky, laidback setting. The cosy library and light-flooded conservatory are also open for afternoon tea at Number 16 in London.
Number Sixteen is situated in the heart of South Kensington, with the museums on its doorstep, and South Kensington Tube Station just a 2-minute walk away.

We attended afternoon tea here and loved it because of the amazing service and delicious food

Our afternoon in the restaurant was wonderful. The afternoon tea was delicious that came with a complimentary glass of prosecco which was most welcome. The staff, table setting and music were all delightful. Thank you for cheering us both up! (Neither of us liked the mini choux pastries though). A very minor thing concerning the table service... it might be useful to train the waiting staff to walk around the table to where the drinking glasses are, rather than to reach over people's place settings / plates of food so as to refil drinking glasses.

We thought the afternoon tea was very ordinary, overall. The scones were ok. The “cakes” were nothing special. The salmon blini was stale. One of the roast beefs had a large piece of gristle in it. Worst of all though were the sandwiches; the bread was quite stale. They had obviously been prepared hours beforehand and were cold. They should be room temperature/cool, Fresh and soft bread. The bread was curling away from the cucumber! The staff should’ve noticed this, or perhaps they were used to it. The tea was nice.

Great experience of the afternoon tea. Not that expensive, 22£ + service charges. Sandwiches, 2 scones, and miniature pastries, and teapot with milk. It was fulfilling, I was not hungry, neither thirsty until late night. The afternoon tea starts from 12:30pm (big plus, since in most of the other places it begins around 3pm). There are not a lot of people, so I got to enjoy the place, nicely decorated, with a view on the garden. I never felt rushed, and I got tea and milk refilled (jam and cream can be refilled). Scones with strawberry and raspberry jam, with the cream was the best, with the earl grey tea with milk !

Very nice afternoon tea on rainy October day. Tasty sandwiches and scones, beautiful small cakes. Lots of tea! Actually so much food, that could not eat all. Price ca 25 GBP. Tea room was cosy, next to romantic garden (where can eat on better wether).
