A stylish, modern brasserie in the heart of Belfast, Novelli at City Quays is a refined choice for French and Mediterranean dining. Afternoon teas are also served, and the al fresco terrace is a great choice for when the sun's shining.

The Novelli at City Quays menu offers a diverse taste of the Mediterranean, and includes a good selection of vegetarian and vegan options. There are light starters of local seared scallop with cured salmon belly and parsley root, moving on to succulent choices from the rotisserie like rosemary lamb rump, and roasted chicken. Prix fixe menus are a popular choice for quick meals, and there are dedicated children's dishes on offer as well.

Afternoon teas at Novelli at City Quays in Belfast are filled with beautifully crafted cakes, pastries and sweets, while the savoury options include tastes of the local area, such as smoked Irish salmon, and Kilkenny roast ham.

A bright, airy restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows and modern décor, Novelli at City Quays is a 13-minute walk from Yorkgate Rail Station.

Pleasent decor and layout inside restaurant which is good as the Hotel is rather bland from outside.
Service from waiting staff was friendly and attentive. Met for a lunch reunion, Food was average so wouldn’t make a return trip just for food.. Cocktail menu limited unless .... yes you drink gin!
Afternoon Tea at next table looked lovely. Wasn’t overly busy so made for pleasent environment.

the meal and setting were wonderful and the best part was our waitress Stefania

The food was quick to arrive and in general was very nice however their signature dish of rotisserie chicken was a little dry. The drinks were very slow to arrive every time despite there being very few people in the restaurant. The setting of the hotel & restaurant is very near nice.

Excellent meal and service only criticism was the background music was terrible

Lovely location and a really nice view over the docks, just a shame the restaurant doesn't live up to this. Very slow service with a 45 minute wait for starters even though there were no more than 8 tables in the restaurant. Very plain food, mushroom tortellini starter was worst pasta dish I've eaten in a long time, sauce was ok but rubbery pasta with barely any filling. Lamb Tagine pretty bland and cous cous wasn't nice at all.
In short it was hotel dining so I guess we shouldn't have expected that much really but when a 'celeb' chef puts their name behind a restaurant you do hope....
A lot of great restaurants in Belfast now so I think these guys need to up their game a bit.

Lovely decor but table and floor not cleaned. The starter (parsnip gnocchi) and dessert (raspberry sorbet) ordered from the vegan menu weren’t available and the main (aubergine tagine) from the vegan menu wasn’t a tagine in taste, only in the tagine pot it was served in - it was watery and flavourless and it was served with plain couscous not the advertised cardamom, almond and lemon couscous. The wild mushroom tortellini starter had a delicious sauce but the pasta was thick and tough. The goat’s cheese starter was enjoyed but not served as advertised with tomato and black olive. The lamb tagine didn’t have any depth or distinct flavours although the lamb itself was enjoyed but it was served with plain couscous and not the advertised harissa couscous. The tarte tatin pastry was over cooked and not a hint of bourbon in the ice cream as advertised. The tarte au citron was not caramelised as advertised but was a slab of lemon gloop - the accompanying raspberry sorbet was enjoyed but begs the question why the vegan raspberry sorbet dessert wasn’t available? We had to ask twice for our second bottle of sparkling water. We ordered the Talavera Tinto Cariñena but were given a Tempranillo/Merlot. We sent it back but it appeared on our bill to add insult to injury. The Novelli recommended Malbec was the highlight of the evening. A memorable father’s day dinner for all the wrong reasons...

The food was enjoyable however the staff and service let the restaurant down. We never received a wine list after enquiring, no one was asked to try wine, it was just left at the table. The main course order was mixed up with one of our party's meal cold. Overall it just felt impersonal and just another chain restaurant. Considering our bill for 4 was £230 we will not be returning.

Food good but service very poor.

It was our 30th Wedding anniversary and the experience was most disappointing. Although the food was quite nice the service was atrocious. Very inexperienced staff....we asked 3 times for water for the table and we were waited on by 5 seperate people!! The menu wasn't explained and nobody came near us between or during courses. A perfect location which I had researched and was sure it would be a meal to remember. Unfortunately for all the wrong reasons.
    Would be reluctant to return.
