Lovely hotel, food was average and over priced.

We had such a lovely time. Very attentive, incredible customer service throughout by all members of staff that served us. When I booked I’d stated it was for my dads birthday and I love the little touch of the happy birthday plate and glass of Prosecco so thoughtful and dad was really impressed! All round great experience. Favourite dish was probably the scones and the choux hun with the blueberry inside!! Thanks again.

Thank you to everyone who helped making Ellie’s 16th birthday afternoon tea so special yesterday. Particular thanks to Alex and Si!! She had a great time - you looked after them all so well. Many thanks!!

Bit pricey for what you actually get. It would have been nice to have been told what the sandwiches were too, it was a bit of a guessing game with some. Overall it's a nice setting in a great location and the staff check on you regularly, but sadly just not the best afternoon tea.

Food was very nice but the service was appalling. Only 5 tables in and it took over an hour for our starters. No apologies or explanations. The management appear more interested in lecturing their staff behind the bar in full view of the clientele than serving.

Plus: We booked afternoon tea for my mother's birthday and had a lovely time. The service was very friendly and prompt and the scones were delicious. Our message about wanting a high back chair was heeded and my mother was very comfortable. Minus: Our only concern was the venue was not very suitable for an elderly person with some mobility issues. Booking remotely meant we couldn't ask the questions about accessibility and had to rely on photographs. There were a lot more steps to negotiate than we realised! (Possibly this was in part due to the Covid one-way system, because we did notice a stair lift later). However, she managed ok with help and it didn't spoil our afternoon.

My partner and I were also staying at The Arden hotel for my partners birthday. Our dining experience was excellent at No 44. The service was great and our waitress was lovely and friendly. The food was amazing and we couldn’t fault a thing. I made the waitress aware that it was my partners birthday and if they are able to do anything. I was just expecting a candle or something in his dessert, which would have been more than enough. However, the chef and the staff went above and beyond and we were each given a small glass of Prosecco and my partner was given a plate with “happy birthday” written in chocolate and some truffles. We had a truly lovely evening and I would definitely visit again. Thank you.

We took afternoon tea, commencing with a lovely glass of Prosecco. I had been assured in advance that my dietary requirements would be met. The staff were very friendly, helpful and accommodating. They were happy for us to be seated on a lovely raised terrace with a view of the theatre, even though it meant more steps for them to climb. The food and drinks were nothing short of excellent ! There was nothing to fault - a very enjoyable experience. We are regular visitors, and will remain so.

Food delicious but service and presentation very poor. Ordered four afternoon teas, albeit one without strawberry jam or pickle on one of the sandwiches. Three teas arrived on the traditional stands but the fourth was "presented" on two side plates but still had the pickle on the sandwich. We had to request further clotted cream, only one offered initially between the four of us. Staff very young with very little experience, and no-one overseeing was going on. Expected much more and spoilt our celebration.
